Good news Gally. How lovely for your daughter to have you there. And if you're not in your bed the mattress won't need turning so we mattress fairies can have a rest

Gally Fri 16-Mar-12 17:39:08

Mattress all back in place, so just got to struggle with the duvet now - although I got in such a muddle with it I think the fairies put it back in exactly the same position - oh well at least it was exercise for us all!! confused

GoldenGran Fri 16-Mar-12 18:31:27

Fabulous news Gallyabout your trip, very exciting for you and just what you need. I haven't been on GN for a few days, so missed the mattress turning, you are good, I hardly ever do mine!

Annobel Fri 16-Mar-12 19:45:16

Have just been outside to have a look at Jupiter and Venus. Very clear night. I didn't really need my Google Skymap (free from Android Market), but it did confirm that I was looking in the right direction.

Hattie64 Fri 16-Mar-12 19:54:31

Ooh I think it is years since I turned mine!!! Perhaps I should, wonder what I will find, not fairies I think, more likely a mountain of biscuit crumbs, probably a family of mice as well.
My PC has died a death, well it is 8 years old, I had to crank it up with a starting handle so old. Fortunately have an IPad2, and have spent all morning looking at web sites comparing prices and models. Fortunately one of my sons told me what to look for, all very technical. Unfortunately have lost email addresses and photos, fortunately my kids put the majority of them onto my oldie, so the can reinstall for me.
Popped into our little Waitrose and bought a fruit loaf, tastes like slices of hot cross buns. A lady told me at weekends she puts loads of whipped cream and jam on the toasted slices, so as it is Saturday Tomorrow I shall do the same!

Annobel Fri 16-Mar-12 20:36:52

Hattie grin i am salivating. Is this the time to confess that I bought a pack of 4 hot cross buns yesterday and now there are none left? A good thing that it wasn't until I got them home that I discovered that I could have had two packs for the price of one!

jeni Fri 16-Mar-12 21:11:49

Drool!!

Bez Fri 16-Mar-12 22:26:51

I have had a busier than normal day - SIL arrived this morning as on a few days off - he helped us load the car as we are off to France in the morning - later this afternoon BIL arrived - most things sorted for the morning except the suitcase - shall I go and do it now or wait till I have had a sleep?
Will live dangerously and do it tomorrow - all things out on spare bed ready for the case!

Have a good weekend everyone B wine wine wine

Teaching today. I have a lovely new Chinese student, he's really working hard at his studies. He had his own business in China and I think it's really brave to start afresh at 40+ in a new country.

Gally, how lovely for you to enjoy the anticipation of your trip.
Bez, Bon Voyage.

Bez Fri 16-Mar-12 23:19:45

GA merci beaucoup.

Do you teach ESL ?

Gally Sat 17-Mar-12 13:48:21

.......been weeding in the garden for 3 hours - unaccustomed to gardening as John did most of it while I watched!. Quite satisfying seeing it take shape. He had always wanted a Magnolia tree so I bought one for his birthday last autumn and I sprinkled some of his ashes around it just now - hopefully they will encourage it to blossom in its first year, fingers crossed smile

syberia Sat 17-Mar-12 13:56:26

What a lovely thing to do, Gally, it will be lovely seeing it grow and flower x

greenmossgiel Sat 17-Mar-12 14:18:44

Gally, you'll be able to sleep well tonight after all your hard work, I bet! How lovely to lay some of John's ashes around his tree. I'm sure it will flourish. flowers

bagitha Sat 17-Mar-12 16:59:07

I love that gesture, gally, and I think John would have appreciated it. smile

Greatnan Sat 17-Mar-12 17:06:07

Good for you, Gally - I am sure you will have a wonderful time.

glammanana Sat 17-Mar-12 17:09:26

Gally what a lovely thing to do, you can watch the tree grow and blossom

yogagran Sat 17-Mar-12 18:40:03

What a lovely thing to do - it'll be a special place to sit when the warmer weather comes

grannyactivist Sat 17-Mar-12 23:59:14

Gally sunshine (for your garden.)
Bez, yes I do teach ESL and really enjoy it. My students are mostly adult and I teach from home.

Today I have been enjoying a lovely day with my daughter and grandson. I took them out for a special lunch to celebrate daughter's birthday and then brought grandson home so that my daughter can enjoy a night out with friends. It's lovely to see how she's relaxed since the inquest and is now in really good spirits and looking forward to the future. smile

glammanana Sun 18-Mar-12 00:36:38

Today I've been packing for a visit to the old country -GB. Staying with good friends, then in a cottage down a long winding lane at the bottom of a valley, then London. I'll also be hoping to find something to wear for my son's wedding.
Can't wait! smile

Spent a few hours on trains again. That is where the Kindle comes into its own. I've been visiting DS1 and family who moved house (about a mile as crow flies) on Friday. They look quite settled already. The house is spacious with more room for Granny and the large garden is proving ideal for the chickens - I predict some new residents for the henhouse - and for children. DS2 brought his two over on Mother's Day (their mum was working, poor thing) and we had a pub lunch just down the road. The pub has a huge beer garden so we were able to send the kids out for a run around until hail fell out of what seemed to be a clear blue sky. All GC were admirably well behaved, even the two youngest who were little horrors when I last saw them three weeks ago!

Oldgreymare Mon 19-Mar-12 19:50:15

Gosh, volume 4 already and I have only just caught up with you all. Exciting times, fun times! Bon voyage to the travellers, success to the gardeners and hang on in there to the weary! smile
