Where is everyone? I know I'm not the only insomniac; been awake since 3.00 and I'm now bored....

Not up yet - just haven't gone to bed. grin Hope everyone had a good day with no crises or major upsets.
harrigran when the instructions say to take water with it that's not quite what they had in mind!! grin Seriously, hope you had some arnica handy and aren't feeling too much the worse for wear now.
My eldest granddaughter phoned me earlier so I have spoken to ALL of my grandchildren today, including the four year old I've never met. Daughter even came on the phone briefly to say thank you for gifts.
We got through lunch okay with our daughter holding her emotions together pretty well on the whole and our grandson had a whale of a time opening his gifts - 'twas lovely to watch his wonder and excitement.
All gifts declared 'perfect' and everyone content. Aaahh! So, off to bed. G'night.

Ouch Harrigran I hope you are okay now!

nanachrissy Sun 25-Dec-11 20:32:06

Harrigran I hope your side is ok, I bet you'll have a stunning bruise. Do get some non slip mats, it is so easy to go a**e over t*t and hurt yourself.
Nothing to do with our age either!! wink

I have one! And very insanitary things they are too. At least the ones with suckers on. But they work.
Hope your side is OK.

I just came back with my sister and we played old records for an hour and talked about schooldays....learned some things I never knew, too.
Now tired and full of dinner....have some lovely new books to look at.
Also my sis gave me a watercolour picture of the bottle works in Dudley that we went to see in November - beautiful family reference here.

Careful Oxon70 ! yesterday I stepped into my shower, water running, and I slipped and fell very heavily on my left side. First time in my life I have fallen while bathing, just did not see it coming. DD said she thought I might need non-slip thingies in shower tray, now I know i'm old.

Happy Christmas from me too.

All sorted except me, I need a shower and a hairwash.
My sister coming from near Chepstow to take me to Oxford!
(...And the last minute family differences - my grandson and his girlfriend - seem to have been sorted out. I wish he would make up his mind which girlfriend!)
Now heading for the shower.

Happy Christmas to all. All quiet at the moment - expect a call from excited GCs at any minute. Love to all whether you're contemplating a peaceful day or a hectic one.

Oldgreymare Sun 25-Dec-11 07:32:07

Happy Christmas EVERYONE!
Bit of packing to do then off (two and a half hours drive) to Number 2 son and DIL for Lunch....

Eat them Mamie When we were on holiday in the summer my family got through loads of camembert, there were 8 of us though.

Mamie Sat 24-Dec-11 09:19:14

I have been back from the market for an hour. We are an hour ahead of you though. Queues not too bad though you wonder what one elderly couple with do with five camembert cheeses...

greenmossgiel Sat 24-Dec-11 09:18:40

Late night last night - didn't have any time to eat much during the day or to have any dinner prior to wine bottles being opened........so I feel a bit 'tired' this morning! grin

harrigran Sat 24-Dec-11 09:13:32

Been awake for ages but I am not going shopping or do any housework. My sister has invited me for lunch where we will exchange gifts and just relax. I cooked a turkey breast yesterday and that will serve as cold cuts on Boxing day.
Best wishes to all on Gransnet.

The gift card I ordered from Amazon should have arrived first thing on Wednesday by Royal Mail. Still no sign of it!

harrigran Fri 23-Dec-11 09:14:34

No biker it is DPD, I have just tracked the order and it is at our local depot so fingers crossed. Are Fedex unreliable ?

bikergran Fri 23-Dec-11 08:09:38

harrigran hope it's not FEDEX delivering them!!!!! hmm

JessM Fri 23-Dec-11 07:51:25

Ah, sorry you are both feeling rough this morning. Here is a brew. I have nothing to complain of, other than the fact the microwave still smells of curry after last night. Added jam to porridge to ensure not curry flavoured porridge. hmm

nanachrissy Fri 23-Dec-11 07:41:42

I've had a dreadful night, tossing and turning, and now have a mega migraine!
After my good news yesterday re dad not being sent home, I thought a good sleep was assured. How wrong can you be?

Waiting for the meds to kick in now. hmm

harrigran Fri 23-Dec-11 06:35:00

Been wide awake since 5.30 so have decided to get up and make myself useful. Sore stomach this morning, just what I need at this time of year.
I have ordered some bar stools for the kitchen and they have promised next day delivery. I will now have to keep a look-out because I don't have a doorbell at present.

Ariadne Thu 22-Dec-11 17:01:33

Grannylin Thu 22-Dec-11 15:37:18

I know too much red wine is lethal-I should have remembered!Have had to abandon all my last minute plans today as I have the hangover from hell and have spent the day between the loo and my bed. I won't touch another drop- ever, ever!!!!
