Why can't I wear this to a wedding?

Haha yes I have seen many older women relatives at weddings stood in that way, a long coat and a fiercely held handbag.😁

Interestingly, my SiL wore the same outfit to both her son and her daughters weddings, several years apart, and no one was apoplectic about it

I did exactly the same! I had bought an expensive (to me!) silk outfit and wore it once with a jacket and the second time with a cobweb bolero. Same shoes and handbag, too!

My DCs clearly weren’t bothered as they never mentioned it and I’d never even thought to clear it with them before the wedding!

Only in old photos I should add.

It sounds a lovely outfit. Wear it and have a happy day.

Am I the only one who can see that the daughter is thinking her daughter might ve upset to think she wasn't worthy of a brand new outfit. I wouldn't have even thought about releasing it. Its a big celebration for your family - surely worth splashing out on.

A bride is totally focussed on herself and HIM and their love for each other. On her wedding day she is the happiest luckiest most loved girl in the world.

She won't be pricing the guests outfits to assess her own "worth" in their eyes.

Heavens, do brides these days need to see the price tag on the wedding gifts to decide how much they like the giver?

I tend to agree with Kitty as I was virtually told this by a DC once they knew I was planning to wear the same outfit twice. Like others have said, it's not worth having a family dispute over and which could sour the happy day. However, if you do want to wear the same outfit then would it be possible to dye it a different colour?

I think the suggestion of going to a 'previously worn' shop is a good idea. I believe John Lewis do that.

Similar to Aldom, a good friend went to a 'second hand' shop for her outfit for her daughter's wedding. She looked fantastic.

If you love the outfit wear it, buy new shoes, bag and hat if you want but it is really important to feel comfortable.

If your daughter wants to take you shopping and buy an outfit then let her.

Maybe the moderators could remove that link, it was one of a few that I looked at regarding the popularity of lace right now. I didn't mean to post one for a business, in tall, skinny models wearing (very little) lace!!

Would some sort of compromise be to wear it and change up the "extras".
If something fits, that's a marvelous thing!

Apparently, looking on line, a lace outfit is fine to wear to a wedding, so go ahead and wear your outfit 😊.

It also says wear vibrant or dark tones in lace and keep the outfit short, just below the knee maximum.

Crikey this a difficult one.

My first thought was ‘wear it and accessorise it differently’.

Then I thought maybe not. Feelings/emotions are involved here and they can be tricky buggers at the best of times.

Your daughter will be on high doh.
Possibly she feels you’re not making much of an effort for your granddaughter.

Not worth canvassing any one else’s opinion.

I’d just buy a new bluddy dress. Keeps the peace and you can’t put a price on tgat can you?

I would stick to you’d guns if you like it and feel good in it
Perhaps daughter would change her tune if you said something along the lines of

If you don’t want me to wear the same outfit are you going to buy me a new one and all the accessories to go with it You could go round a lot of shops and take a long time to choose
