We need a new garden hose

We bought one and it worked fine but our hose tap is in the driveway and you had to turn the tap off when not using the hose to empty it so it shrank back. Couldn't be bothered to keep unlocking the side gate to get to the tap every time to turn it on and off so we gave it away. Not sure if they all work like that though.

I bought one from the DT. The idea is good , it is light and easy to use but but it is very easy also to rub on the floor, catch on shrubs and go into little holes. I still use it but have to watch out for the sprays of water shooting into the air. They are fine sprays but will wet you through.

I bought a coiled hose from Robert Dyas recently. It is 30 m long and only cost £9.99. We had one previously and it lasted ages.

Don't buy a Hozelock maxi plus. They are cheap and kink up at the slightest opportunity. Ours is a damn nuisance. Cheap and nasty.

Garden hoses are one of my (many) irritations. I occasionally try and persuade himself to buy a very expensive one - I could always go and do this myself of course but garden hoses are in the same category as the various wheelie bins and remain, his responsibility.
Having typed that, I feel slightly ashamed and will take myself off to the very good garden centre, rather than B&Q and buy a proper one. The staff at the (rather expensive) good garden centre are very helpful. We have an ordinary hose pipe on a circular thing, from B&Q which as annsixty says, it's light and (relatively) easy to use, but it catches on absolutely everything and easily kinks. It's also very tedious to keep turning the rolling thing to tidy the hose up after use.

I have a garden hose which is stored in a casing which is attached to the wall,it was pretty expensive but I feel it was worth it as it recoils back into the casing,negating the need for me to do it by hand,which used to drive me nuts ?

I have a long thin garden and like Scooter58 I spent a fair bit of cash on a very long length hose which rewinds back in to the casing without me having to do anything. After years of fighting with winding up hoses on reels and taking watering cans to the bits the hoses didn't reach, I love it. Should it need replacing for any reason I would do it straight away.

I also have the hose in the case on the wall.
Would readily buy another if necessary.

Ah,so it's the hose in the case on the wall. that sounds exactly what I need.

My DH bought one but never uses it now. It isn't long enough to reach all of the garden. He's gone back to using his old green one.

We have had several hoses in cases and hoses on reels and they have all been a pain in the neck. We now have one of these magic ones that extends when you turn the water on and retracts when you turn it off again. It goes all the way around the outside of the house without effort so you can water the front and the back, and fits in a box about 15x10x5 inches.

I found some reviews for the top 5 auto rewind hoses. One of the best was the Suncast Aquawinder. The review site was American and they mentioned Costco and Amazon. So I looked, and guess what? Amazon.com sells it for $78.56 while Amazon.co.uk sells it for £302.68. What the hell????

We bought an XHose recently from garden centre 75 ft. It is brilliant! I actually want to water the garden now.Lots of spray options, from full/shower/ fine spray etc.so you can water the pots as well and hanging baskets.Get one!

I'd love one that winds itself back up when not in use. I think hubbie even bought one of those gadgets once, but when he intends to install it, I don't know.

He is out in the garden all day. He does the weeding and scatters the weeds all over the lawn - to dry, he says. If he puts them wet in the compost bin they will sprout again. He says.

He finishes up by watering the garden and leaves the hose just lying in squiggles all over the lawn.

There are buckets all over the place with bits and bobs or with nothing in. The roses are not dead-headed, there is a disgusting trap thing in a sickly yellow-green colour dangling from the bushes near the dustbins which stinks and is supposed to catch flies. Which it does, and they buzz annoyingly inside the trap.

Then he comes in and sits down and complains that the garden looks awful, even though he's been out there all day.

When you turn off the water tap,the excess water continues coming out of the XHose and it shrinks back to it's original size ( if you have a snake phobia don't get one.)

I have bought two Xhoses in the last 3 years and they have both been
a complete failured .
In each case the hose started to leak after a few weeks use.the inner tube had obviously split.
Seems I was just unlucky!
