Blimey! Do things trend for little ones? Mine were in school uniform and workaday clothes other times with toys!!!!

Will 7 year old DGD look at me in bemusement if I ask her 'what's trending'?

Trending? What ever the shops feel they can make a fast buck on.
Those dreadful onesies were trending in fashion last year. I could not imagine a less flattering garment I wonder how much money was wasted on them for them never to be seen again.
Until some daft beggar a few years hence, who missed out on these last year, thinks this might be a good idea to make a fast buck.

Our 6 year old GD has just had a magic set and early science experiment set for Birthday presents. She was delighted! She also got a lot of Disney fairy type merchandise, pleased about that as well!

If you are going to be rude, yes, your mistake if you are going to start advertising before Christmas to get grandparents to spend their money on -- useless rubbish-- the latest gifts, yes.

I've got a world globe and a microscope set for my 8 year old dgd.
Plus a goodie bag of nail polish, lippy, sharpener, sticky notes, etc.

As her birthday is a couple of weeks before Christmas, for that she is getting a horse riding hat, and a girly afternoon, just the two of us, to the local theatre panto which gives a matinee showing for £9 each.

Yes..... wee ones do have trending, I.e. whatever toy or fashion item is in vogue...but I usually try and avoid these if I think they are a rip off.

All those replies translate as "7 is far too young to follow trends in anything." Peer pressure to have what everyone else has, whatever the cost in money or hassle to parents, will come to bear on her soon enough. If you are a gran, your role is to let her be a child while she can and ignore fashions.

Probably!

Just a thought for all grans here, when our children were young(under 12)
Sometimes we had nice older visitors, relatives, who brought little presents for them, and invariably the gifts would be a year or more too young for them. The children were thrilled with them and seemed to like the fact that they had ' permission' to play with things that they knew were a bit young.
It helped me buy toys for them at Christmas, just now and then putting in something that seemed young, and they always liked those toys the best!
I think that all children feel pressure once they are at school, and those sort of presents , simple fun things, relax them.

I think maybe the op chose the wrong phrase and was simply asking what 7 yr old girls are 'into' at the moment. As in Frozen memorabilia or is that 'old hat' now ? We only have DGSx2 so I wouldn't know. They are into Marvel comic characters.

Horses, football, dancing, music, Horses,monster high, lego (especially lego popstars), Brownies, Horses, arts and craft stuff oh the dreaded cutting and sticking, DesignaFriend Dolls (Argos) and all of their accessories...............

Are Moshi Monsters in or out? GD loved them a few years ago

She is now 10 and a real tomboy. Interested in science, .making things and Lego. When she was 7 she was given a token from Claire's. We spend a fruitless hour or so going round and round and round the shop. Nothing took her fancy; she used to love Ben 10 and they had nothing in that green there.

I bought her a hair brushing head thing which she ignored so gave it to her cousin.

P.S. she is great....... just not a red haired pink lover. Prefers blue.
