Ways to improve getting older

I had a toy boy some years ago He was 28 and I was 44. I did go around with a huge grin on my face for several weeks, but actually in the end, the lack of common references due to the age difference turned into an issue for me. But it was certainly fun while it lasted

nanny1 we have a shared, quirky sense of humour. My man doesn't need to support my bits - but feels it is the gentlemanly thing to do. I certainly do not need to support his bits. They are totally self sufficient...

Make the effort to go out and meet people. Join a club or group that has similar interest as your self. Try to remain positive in what you undertake.

Hear hear chrisy -- I totally agree with you . I have so many interests and hobbies that I haven't time to get old . I thank my lucky stars that I am well and able to do so much and get on with doing all the things I enjoy (gransnet included!!).This all helps I am sure .I take a leaf out if an elderly neighbour's book --- mix with all ages and open your mind to all there views . She lived for a very active 93yrs.God Bless her !

For two years I dated a man who was nine years younger than me... but I much prefer a man to be my age or a tad older. My cousin said younger men keep you on your toes...I don't want to be on my toes!

A younger man? - I have enough trouble keeping up with the old one I have got!
Nothing vital wanes as they age, in my experience!
Talking about taking a sabbatical at 50 while you are still relatively fit - I actually completely jumped off the professional wheel at that age. I re-trained in photography and pursued 10 years of working in arts outreach, running singing workshops, picure editing for a magazine, general photography etc. - had a great time and it was a huge tonic and what I had always wanted to do. More or less retired now - just take on projects that I really like now and again, but also help to run various arts projects voluntarily, including a villages choir.
My Ds say that it was a great example to them not to get stuck in a rut and that anything is possible - so that was another positive spin-off.
I was very lucky that my OH was happy to put up with the relative poverty that my decision resulted in.

Enjoy life and live it to the full. Don't save for a rainy day, spend what you have if it gives you pleasure.
