Mrs Brown's Boys D'Movie

Ohhh! I have not yet had time to go see it but like you love the series. I dont think I will have the same opinion as you have because he does make me laugh so much and the film I think is going to be great and looking forward to finding the time, but just out of curiosity why did you not like it??

I hate the tv series, it is so full of filth I don't know how anyone can watch it so the film is not on my list of things to watch. Whats wrong with the oldies, I love the old repeats of sitcoms such as 'open all hours' etc, yes they have innuendo but its not offensive. I watch all the old repeats and love them and generally im not easily offended for example in a love story (film) I would watch a bedroom scene but I just don't like sex being used as so called humour.

Caught a bit of the tv series last night, by accident. Why on earth does nearly every other word he/she says have to be the 'f' word? Doesn't make it any funnier...

I don't understand these men who think dressing up as a woman is funny.

Nor do I, Lona, but I suppose it's in the tradition of pantomime dames. How do you feel about principal boys?

Never watched more than a minute of Mrs. Brown before switching over or off?

I think this must be the absolute worst programme on TV - the BBC is rapidly losing my vote before the renewal of their licence to broadcast next year.

What you fail to realise, Ana, is that 'Mrs Brown' is quite the authentic character, in language and manner! Based, I believe, on Brendan O'Carroll's own mother...

The programme is so successful because there is genuine affection between audience and cast. 'Dressing up as a woman' is not funny per se - think of the Archbishop of Canterbury... oh, maybe not...

The fact remains that Mrs Brown's Boys makes people laugh aloud, without malice - and that is a rare achievement these days.

grumppa Principal boys? Well, they weren't supposed to be funny, but I don't know why there weren't any young men to play the parts.

Perhaps the girls were getting sniffy about the men playing women, so they decided to join in the confusion!

Well, thank you for enlightening us, feetlebaum, but the fact that 'Mrs Brown' is based on a real character still doesn't make the programme funny to me...

Obviously I'm in the minority here, but I love Mrs.Brown's boys and find it very funny. Sorry...

Having had an Irish MiL I would say that this may be based on a real character but has no resemblance to any Irish woman that I know. I must admit that I have not watched more than a few minutes of the programme before switching off.

DH and I watched an episode last night. We think it's very funny. I admit it is a bit rude sometimes.

Another Mrs Brown's Boys fan here. I love it when they make each other laugh, and sometimes film the crew as well. She has a crude tongue, but she's so good-natured. It's interesting that Cathy in real life is Brendan O'Carroll's wife.

I don't make a point of watching it, but enjoy it when I do. I love pantomime and I find it like pantomime minus the ambiguity [which is a bit of an understatement].

One of the funniest things I have ever 'not seen' was when Mrs Brown gave herself a bikini wax. We didn't see anything because she shut herself in the downstairs loo under the stairs and we just heard what was going on. The only visual part of it was something that resembled a small cat outside the loo later.

I was all ready to condemn the programme, unseen (!) - very sniffy I was - and then I saw the bikini-wax scene on YouTube - and decided I wasn't going to miss anything that could make me laugh that much!

The episode where Agnes takes LSD thinking it's indigestion tablets left me breathless and tearful too...

Yes it's rude. Yes it's funny! I quite surprised myself for liking it - and I astonished my daughter!

Oh, thank goodness some of you like it. I thought I was a lone voice in the wilderness. Mrs.Brown makes me laugh so much that I actually did fall off the sofa when it was on the other day. [grin grin grin ]
