(161 Posts)I would suggest very strongly that an investigation should be launched into Russian interference in the Brexit campaign and vote. This was floated at the time but I thought was just another case of angry remainers - a bit like myself back then - trying to vent their spleen. Now with this latest news about Gill I have serious misgivings about Russian allegiances during the referendum.
I can understand supporters of Farage thinking this is all just to have a go at their hero but a man is facing jail time, and Farage would keep the company of all manner of rogues if he thought it would further advance his career.
As for his antisemitic behaviour, is par for the course that far right nationalists are not just going to be racist against Muslims, that us just their latest target, they will also in the majority of cases by antisemitic. As Yaxley Lennon and his thugs are despite going over to Israel recently and courting the far right over there. I suppose that is a case of ‘the enemy of my enemy is my friend’.

We talked about Farage’s politics and racism on the numerous Brexit threads in 2016, but of course it was pooh-poohed by those intending to vote leave.
I think that there is little question that the referendum was nobbled - in fact it was deemed illegitimate by constitutional lawyers.
Farage’s links with Russia have no doubt been subject to security investigations and these should now be opened to the voter. I suspect that the issue would be that it would call Brexit into severe doubt.
Farages personal earnings need to be publicised more anyway. those cloning to the belief he really can "turn back the boats, I'll vote for him", need to know the sheer personal self serving greed of this man

Yet, apparently if a GE was held tomorrow, Farage would be moving into Number 10 pdq. It’s the trump scenario all over again. Both men should have fallen at the first hurdle and allowed nowhere near such responsibility.
Sadly politicians who should know better are modelling themselves upon Farage whose success with some voters has encouraged them to err towards far right wing politics and become more hardline towards immigrants. As a result other political issues are falling by the wayside and this nation is suffering badly as a result.

Putin is a very happy bunny. He was thrilled when the UK broke away from the EU, fragmenting this bloc is something both he and Trump want because picking off weaker countries rather taking on the EU is much more preferable. So would make complete sense for both Farage and Trump to have allegiances with Putin.
But this does risk making the UK less secure and fly in the face of Farage’s promise to win back our sovereignty which he may have sold already to Russia.

The abuse of Jewish students at his posh private school was really shocking - the gas chambers/singing of Nazi songs. It shows that his behaviour is a longstanding part of his character. This was really disgusting in the late 70s/early 80s.
But Farage has always struck me as a clever and charming charlatan/chameleon - he hops onto the latest bandwagon oozing charm and sincerity
- Brexit - the Europeans are the problem - get them out (while ensuring his own kids had EU passports) - where did the money he promised us go?
- Forming Reform as a private company rather than political party with himself as major shareholder
- Migrants - get them out
- become MP for Clacton but then declaring he cant go there - but spends his time in the US with Trump
- Dressing up in tweeds to go to on the farmers' march because he has invested millions in land

Rather more important to have a deep and forensic examination of what exactly Keir Starmer is doing, at present.
He’s representing the UK at the G20 summit … a forum of the largest economies in the world that meets regularly to discuss the most pressing issues facing the global economy.
Is that a problem?
Yes it is considering the problems he should be facing in his own country and his excessive number of trips abroad.
A deputy should have been sent in his place.
But so much better to divert attention from his shortcomings by resurrecting historic concerns about Farage, who poses a huge threat to Labour.
In my opinion the Reform Party should be investigated by the Security Services.
