I was diagnosed a long time ago and even then according to the consultant's chart I was possibly in the danger zone having had a wrist fracture and vertebral fracture. Have had alendronic acid over the years with breaks inbetween.
Had my follow up appointment yesterday following a Dexa scan. Saw a new consultant who showed me the graph and my chances of having a hip fracture are 50%. She's suggested I try a new drug called Abaloparatide which you inject every day. She said its not scary, more like a pen but must be done every day for 15 months. It was only given approval in August by NICE. Her second choice for me was Zoledronate injections/infusion.
She's given me all the literature and she'll see me in a month to discuss my decision. Just wondered if anyone else is on this new drug and how are you finding it.
