Moving House

When we moved from Somerset to Wiltshire some 12 years ago, my DH had just had his prostate removed (cancer) and was down for three monthly PSA and after care check ups with our local hospital. We informed the hospital that we were moving and when we actually moved and registered with a new surgery all DH's information moved with us and arrangements were made with the local hospital to continue his treatment where it left off so to speak. There were no problems and his treatment continued, including radiotherapy without a hitch. Not sure if this is helpful.

Unfortunately our experience is different Elless. We moved to Leicestershire from Cheshire 8 months ago and my husband has had to start again here with a referral after being offered a date in Cheshire for his procedure so we are waiting. I have been re referred as well for rheumatology. I hope your experience is better than this. It does offer from postcode to postcode. I hope it goes well for you.

I was hoping a new hospital might be better than the one I'm currently at even if I do go to the bottom of the list, we are moving to a more rural area so fingers crossed. I have looked online for information but it's a minefield, I've sent a few emails out but not had any replies yet.

I moved nearly 5 years ago . Best thing I ever did. The healthcare here is excellent in the north west. My new GP sent me to see a cardiologist and found out I was born with a small hole in the side of my heart. My old GP never sent me to see a cardiologist and did an in house ECG and diagnosed LVH no heart medication. In fact I have PAF and on heart medication and blood thinner. He also sent me to see a neurologist who put me on a tablet and after 32 years of limb jerks and 4 months of seizures within 2 weeks my limbs where still and been so ever since. My old neurologist could have put me on the tablet but didn't. My new neurologist sent my blood to have my whole genome genetically tested and in 2022 finally found out what I was born with and it's rare. My old neurologist could have sent my blood away but didn't.

Moving and getting better health care changed my life . If I hadn't moved I still would have been in the dark about 2 things I was born with and may have had a stroke by now.

Hi i moved from York to Newcastle 7 months ago so i also had to move hospitals as Ive arthritis. I rang the hospital and asked what i had to do and they said I had to ask my My new Gp to refer me to the hospital. It only took 3 months for my first appointment to come through and I’ve had loads of different procedures done there even found out I had a medical condition i wasn’t aware I had. I’ve also got a dentist too so I let my old dentist go save me travel back. Best thing I ever did but I was living with a nightmare neighbor too.
