I agree with those saying ring 111 or GP. Perhaps your husband is frightened and that is what’s making him difficult.

If you ring his GP they might make a house call.

Have rung 111 who confirm that he needs to drink plenty. Waiting for a doctor to call me back. Unfortunately, DH is adamant that he will not talk to anyone. At least he is sitting in the lounge so at least I can keep an eye on him, if only from a distance.

Just get as much fluids into him as possible. If he's refusing the dioralyte just give him tea and lots of it. I'd let him sleep after that, is he always so awkward? I know we all get ratty when ill but he sounds extremely ratty.

He is not a good patient, is he? Hope he feels better soon and there is no real cause for alarm, but you must have a doctor make that diagnosis.

Get medical help for your husband regardless of what he says. He is getting dangerously dehydrated and passing blood indicates further problems.

Caz, it sounds as if your husband is scared of what could be wrong with him. The anger is often a sign of fear. You have done your best, but perhaps you need to let him calm down until he admits that he needs help.

Thanks all. Have spoken to doctor (dh refused to) and he's suggested lots of fluids and an appointment to see a doctor on Monday. I did realise when I posted (honestly) that he needs to see a doctor. My problem is how to get a bloody minded, stubborn, 75 year old who, to describe as difficult, would be an understatement, to do something that is so obviously for his own good but that he refuses to do because he's sulking!! Anyway, an empty glass has appeared in the kitchen so fingers crossed he drank the dialyte. Think he's also drunk the cup of tea l made him.
