lawn mower recommendations

Our first spring in this house.
We have a small lawn at the back, about 3 by 4 metres. The grass is quite good quality but has grown quite long. Husband has strimmed it, I've raked it, and it looks a mess.
The last owner left a very light flymo but part of the plastic body was cracked and broke, so I don't want another one of those.
Has anyone a suggestion?
I would prefer a small petrol mower, because I don't like the long wires for electric ones. Also not so keen on rotaries. But maybe petrol mowers are only for larger gardens.
