Slimming World doesn't work for me

Hello There
I need to find a new very simple diet as am in the obese BMI category, prediabetic and have raised cholesterol. I am in my late 60s. Also I remember the late 1960s!
I have been following slimming world food optimising for a year now but only lost 17 lbs in 52 weeks.
I love the support and the meetings but their eating system does not work for me. I am following food optimising 100% but now often gaining pounds instead of losing them.
I am thinking of continuing going to their meetings for the support and companionship but following a different system for eating. SW just encourages me to eat unlimited amounts of certain foods, but without a reasonable amount of fat the food doesn't satiate me and leaves me with constant cravings ( remember K D Laing?) and low fat diets make me feel depressed. I would rather follow a diet where I eat normal healthy food but in small portions.
I have a slow metabolism and an addiction to healthy tasty foods. Plus I like to have a sandwich when on the go and although I eat meat and fish I only want to eat small amounts of these to prevent suffering to others and help prevent climate change. I need to curb my appetite and stop leaning on food to make me feel better in general.
Any advice for an ultra simple cheap diet of every day foods? Or any other suggestions. Has anyone tried hypnosis? Any good free or cheap apps that are simple to use?
Thanks so much in advance for replying and sharing your experiences.

I’ve changed my diet because the doctor wants to put me on statins and I’ve realised that I’ve lost nearly a stone since last October. Doesn’t sound a lot but I’m not particularly overweight and I feel as though I’m probably eating more than I ever had done albeit without eating between meals or bingeing. Going to get the result of my latest cholesterol test this morning so it will be interesting to see if it’s helped. I’ve increased my protein intake but not gone completely low fat. And I have cake every day but it’s made with Benecol and full of nuts, fruit, flax seeds etc. Eating chia every day has flattened my stomach. I gave up on weight watchers years ago when some of the people, on finding that they hadn’t lost weight, were blaming the scales. I think being restricted in what you eat just makes you think about food all the time. I do try to fast for as long as possible, start the day with a glass of hot water and try to go as long as possible before I eat. Chia is supposed to curb your appetite. And I take some prebiotic inulin at night in some milk, it’s supposed to help you sleep and removes visceral fat. It did give me tummy ache when I first started taking it though so has to be introduced slowly. I do drink a lot more water than I used to and sip it throughout the day. All of my daughters friends are going through the menopause and they’re all struggling with their weight and I think we all spend our lives beyond middle age finding ourselves piling on the pounds.

I lost weight with SW.
However for me the secret is much smaller portions! Less fat / sugar.
You can do it ! Good luck it is not easy I know that . Dont cut out the foods you love just eat MUCH less of the bad things at each meal and cook with fry light not fat. Load your plate vegetables and fish.
