Good Morning Everyone,
A dark but dry start to the day here in Brackley.
Up to my usual routine today with the bus to Bicester, do a shop and also chat to those I know.
In addition here in Brackley we have the annual fair which starts tomorrow, which alters my usual bus stop .
Health OK ;
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a dry Bristol. It did rain gently all morning yesterday, but, suddenly, in the afternoon the rain switched off and the sun came out!
The morning was quiet and I baked some lemon cake and ginger nuts for today, and made a mushroom soup for lunch, then sewed.
In the early afternoon, three residents and I went round “phase 1”of the painting, taking notes of the things remaining to be done, + things like paint sloshed onto the brickwork…
Soon after, I had another meeting regarding the later life charity groups. Well run, not long but productive.
Home for dinner and early bed as I was tired.
Today, I’ve got FAB cafe as usual, then my monthly book group in the next village’s library. The book this month, a light whodunnit, was by Tim Sullivan and set in Bristol.
May your day be pain-free and full of sunshine. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🐦‍🔥🦩

Good morning from Malta where another sunny day is forecast with a high of 37°C.

I’m up watching the tennis. It was scheduled to start at 2am our time so I set the alarm. Checked to see if the ladies match had finished but it went on until nearly 5am so I’ve been up and down all night.

No plans today other than a walk to the pharmacy to make a doctor’s appointment.

Hoping you all have a good day.☀️

Good morning from Belfast.
Yesterday turned out quite pleasant so I decided to pot geraniums up for winter and find a place for them probably the porch.
Washing machine repaired so sheets will be going on washing line as soon as it's light.
DH had a meeting last night and tonight as well everything starting again it means I have to be organised for dinner early.
Don't know what I'm doing today I'm sure something will turn up.
Have a good day everyone.

Sago Wed 09-Sept-26 05:42:59

A bit of a cheat this one, I’m in Vancouver so having a quick peek before I go to sleep!

It’s been a beautiful day, we have walked many miles, taken a sea bus and had our picnic lunch in the sky garden at the top of Vancouvers public library.

Tomorrow is our last day before we fly home on Thursday, we are going to walk the Lynn Valley suspension bridge and as long as there are no bear signs we will take a hike.

Had a wonderful time here visiting our son and partner.

Just hoping the airport chaos will have been sorted before we leave.

Goodnight😉

Good morning from south somerset, it is going to be a lovely sunny bright day

My trip to Wales is postponed, a heavy cold at their end so I have an unexpected free day. I made 5 ready meals and prepared a lot of charlotte potatoes they were just starting to sprout and are now safely in the freezer, apart from 5 baking size which will keep in the fridge for up to three weeks

I feel like a cycle ride to my allotment, I have some work I can do up there

Ashcombe Wed 09-Sept-26 06:16:40

Good morning from a cloudy but dry Torbay.

DH was due to arrive today but has had to cancel all his plans because he has a leak in his bathroom at his home in France that he can’t fix and so will have to stay at home and call out a plumber. I feel so sorry for him and also for my DGS3 as we were due to go up to Rugeley tomorrow to watch him in a play. It looks as if I’ll have to travel alone.

Safe journey to you, Sago.

Happy hump day, everyone. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning from Haverfordwest

I really enjoyed our cycle ride yesterday. A great path, flat and off road.Lots of lovely scenery and a great cafe at the end with three choices of gluten free cake and not one a brownie! A rare treat. Didn’t do much after that. Called off at a shop for a few essentials and did a couple of charity shops. I picked up some beautiful cornflower blue wool. 5 balls so I can crochet something for myself, 50p a ball. It was originally from Woolworths for 75p. Its not been used for anything else, goodness knows how old it is.

Tenby is on the agenda today . Last time I was there our youngest was in a cot and he’s 40 next year . We stayed in a flat above Timpsons shoe shop. I remember struggling up the narrow stairs to get up to it with a bulky pushchair and 3 small children.

Take care everyone flowers

Good morning from sunny Greece. Good flight yesterday but DS has a bad cold. Selfishly I’m hoping I don’t get it. The apartment is nice and last night a delicious meal of beef in red wine and onions with accompanying Greek salad.

Today a relaxing day around the pool reading Rupert Everett’s autobiography and my sister arrives later. I hope the air traffic problems recently don’t affect her. Another good meal tonight!

Thoughts to all and today’s sketch 🌺

Grammaretto Wed 09-Sept-26 06:21:23

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. I'm awake far too early especially as it's to be a busy day ahead.

My lodgers have already left this morning after being here since January. They're flying home to Nepal today.
They came to supper last night.

Chiropractor followed by book packing, followed by an auctioneer's appraisal and a computer repairer who will hopefully help me sort out the various laptops and hard drives and tell me what I can dispose of and what should be kept.
A friend is collecting a drum kit for her DC.
This evening a removals company is coming to give me a quote and other friends are coming to see if I have any furniture they can use for their new house.

After writing all this down I shall try to get another hour's sleep!

Wishing everyone a happy day. I'll be back to read more of your doings.

Greyduster Wed 09-Sept-26 06:49:05

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is cool but holds the promise of a fine dry day. Washing machine is doing its stuff already.

Yesterday I had a good session with my chiropractor. She chatters non stop while she works and always has me chuckling. In the afternoon I walked to school where they are still doing assessments for who will need reading help this year, so I read with year four - last year’s year three - who all seemed pleased to pick up where we left off.

At teatime I had toothache! I have some sensitive back teeth and the dentist has been keeping a watch on them. I may have to go and see him sooner rather than later.

Writers group at the library this afternoon, and a few things to shop for while at the mall.

Have the best day you can, folks.

Good morning frim a sunny S E Essex 🙋‍♀️

We have a funeral to go to this morning, DH’s friend of nearly 50 years. This afternoon I need to pack for our very early flight to Jersey tomorrow.

Sending Marydoll (((hugs))) and thinking of our poorly friends, those who are on holiday and travelling 🙋‍♀️

latedecember1963 Wed 09-Sept-26 06:56:03

Good morning everyone from a dry Lancashire after yesterday's mix of sunshine and showers.

How terrifying for your friend Gingster! The safety warnings about water in gardens is usually aimed at keeping children safe, it just shows that adults have to be wary too. Hope her ribs are recovering.

I saw The Sheep Detectives on Amazon Prime, NannyJan, and it was good gentle fun. 🐑🐑🐑

Toddler Group starts again today ( hooray!!) So we'll go to that this morning.
There were slightly fewer tantrums yesterday so fingers crossed for today when we're out and about.

While we were in the garden yesterday I noticed that some of my pots are looking past their best. I'll try to empty them over the next few days.

In the evening I started knitting a snood using circular needles. I tried it last week but my needles were too long and kept twisting so I've swapped to 40cm and it's better.
I think I still prefer using separate needles but this pattern doesn't give me a choice.

Wishing you all the best day possible. 🌻

Gagagran Wed 09-Sept-26 06:58:15

Good morning everyone from a dry and sunny (but cool 13degrees) central south coast.

I am sleeping better and wonder if it's linked to the high strength vitamin D I have restarted. Even DH noted yesterday that I am moving better. Still have problems with my arms and certain movements cause sharp twinges. Do they make WD40 for humans?

DH is out with his cycling club today so I am pleased the forecast is good for them. They will have a coffee stop followed by lunch later and home by 3.30pm. I shall start the Tesco delivery order for Friday and must try and send my Manx niece another anecdote about my Mother's side of our family. She is very interested and requested them.

Hope everyone's plans work out well today, travels are safe and on time and everyone with struggles or worries finds some relief and ease today.

Usedtobeblonde Wed 09-Sept-26 07:04:59

Good morning from Stockport.
It looks dry out but late Autumn rather than early September.

I went out with my friend yesterday but we only ventured as far as Sainsbury’s where their cafe which closed has now reopened as a Costa, I think they are opening in several Sainsbury’s. It was quite busy when we got there.
We had a good chat, her H died in January, he was 93 and had a very good and interesting life, second marriage for both of them.

Although I had a delivery on Monday I still managed to buy more , they had a sale on household goods and I got a good replacement milk pan half price and some lovely lamb chops for my meal tonight.

I shall see my friend and neighbour this afternoon if she is feeling ok, she hasn’t been well recently, I worry slightly about her.
I hope you all find something good about today and for those on holiday, enjoy.

Grandmabatty Wed 09-Sept-26 07:05:23

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 9° and dry. Grammaretto I hope the decluttering continues to go well.
Yesterday my gallbladder was continuing to give me gip. The boys were well behaved though, so that helped. I didnt do much between drop off and pick up.
Today I will pick up my repeat prescription and go to the school library. I also need to go to the retail park for a couple of gift cards but might leave that till tomorrow. Have a good day all.

madeleine45 Wed 09-Sept-26 07:05:43

Good morning Michael and all GN's from a still ,dark morning in North Yorkshire. I had meant to read the last couple of days posts first before I wrote on here, but as I am literally unable to move about much and am frustrated in my ability to do anything right now, and going to start my saga, and hopefully get going in a little while, when I can begin to catch up.

Well my non-routine days continued but in the end , hopefully, finished a little better than it began. I was physically not in a good place, and struggled to get myself showered and dressed etc for the dentist, as the time commitment meant that I had to press on, and couldnt let my body dictate the pace. That combined with my feeling about dentist, and having to meet a new one, and feeling worried about the gap bit I could feel with my tongue, so likely to need some treatment, meant a hard time, coupled with the unknown new person made me aware of how I manage to usually kid myself, that I choose to sit here writing first or take an age drinking my coffee . This lets me keep up the delusion that I am still quite fit, but being in a leisurely mood .

So rather reluctantly I carried on getting ready, and suddenly could not see my little card anywhere with the time on etc and the phone number to check. Searching around, no luck and this special dentists clinic is attached to the local hospital, physically, but is overseen by another area. Getting more tense, I rang the hospital to ask for the number for the other place. Firstly I was cut off twice, then given the wrong number, which after waiting for ages was the maintenance dept, and then they were not sure etc. I put the phone down and decided that I had better just go there myself, and could have saved myself a load of hassle for no good reason. I knew it would be early as the only way I get through these things is to have the earliest appt time available and if they were open I would go at 5am!!

So I got there and parked up and badge in and then could think of no reason to delay and went in. Explained to the receptionist and of course I was down for the first appt at 9am. I sat filling in the form about allergies ,medications etc., and as I was doing that explained to her about the tale of woe and that I was still quite under the weather , so that I would meet the new dentist, and she could examine me and so forth, but I would not be having any treatment that day, as advised by the medics etc,. All too soon I was called in and the usual physical feelings as I went to the door, with the wave of panic and feeling sick, trying to control the breathing etc.

The new (to me) dentist was a slight built , calm lady, who started well by just greeting me and standing back from the chair, allowed me to take a few deep breaths and settle myself in at my own pace. a good beginning. After some general chat and my explaining the latest antibiotics and so forth so she was up to date ,I also told her of my latest worry that I could feel a hole in the upper left area.

She then started to examine me with just her mirror, and fortune favoured the brave!! She told me that this old upper left molar was amazing that it still stayed where it was. That it wasnt a decay or hole, but that the roots were visible and it was just sort of hanging there. I didnt need to do anything and she expected it would fall out in the not too distant future. Such a relief and a lessening of tension for me. After checking all round , I was told that I didnt need to do anything, no sign of any problem areas and that I was to get in touch if there was any problems but that nothing needed doing so far, and she gave me a prescription for the very good special toothpaste Duphaston, that can only be had on prescription, (which I think really helps) My back and leg were not improved by sitting in there and the extra stress meant that I was really struggling to get out to the car, and once sat in the drivers seat, I was hyperventilating and trembling a little from keeping myself in order . I then set off for a very much needed cup of coffee at Nero's .

Struggled in to the cafe, and at first couldnt see a chair that I could sit in comfortably, but someone was just leaving and so I thankfully hobbled as quickly as I could to the table, before anyone else snaffled the seat, and was so grateful to the lovely lady who came straight over to collect my cup from me and ask what I would like. I awarded myself a warm apricot croissant - my treat of choice - and was so pleased to sit there and let the strain go. So I took my time and enjoyed it, and then had to get going for an appointment in Thirsk.

Shot off there, with my brain at last starting to work properly, and beginning to plan my day. completed my things and came back with intentions of getting some of the neglected jobs started, when I had a phone call to ask where I was, as I was meant to meet Nichola and sign a letter, giving her the right to act on my behalf, with regard to the ongoing saga of the wretched enfield baliff hassle. So shot off to do that and apologised for the delay, but when the dentist is on the scene, my brain is unable to even think of other things.

I was so weary and full of aches and pains, that I decided to miss the games night, and try to slowly catch up on mundane jobs. It was the right answer, and I was quite pleased with my efforts. At last , sitting on my kitchen stool, I managed to use my good minced steak to make both a bolognaise and a prepared mince to split up and freeze. Had the bolognaise and also whilst I was concocting all that used up various vegetables, threw out a little from the fridge and so was pleased to end up with a tidy fridge, a couple of meals at the ready and that sort of physical job, chopping up onions etc I find quite calming, because you have to concentrate on that and it sort of brings you back to earth, adding to the shopping list for today.

Couldnt get to sleep but very exhausted - not surprising - and so about 1am, I got up and collected as much washing that I could find and got it in the washer and going, so now as soon as I am able to move about, I will get the yellow peril sorted and go and hang the washing out, and then be ready for a trip down to the market and enjoy just going at a steady pace. Have quite a lot of things I need to sort out, but have to recover from yesterday first. The sky is lightening and a slight breeze so another good omen , so that the washing might dry before I get back. Oh please , let me have a lovely boring week next week, no excitement of this sort anyway!! My leg doesnt seem to be improving much, but no worse, and I feel sure that not having the dentist looming over me and feeling calmer must help.

Hope your trip goes well Mick and you meet a few friends. Hope the FAB cafe goes well for you today GrandMattie. Sago, I envy you. I really liked Vancouver very much and if I win the lottery (highly unlikely!) I would love to go back there. Well just heard the lovely Bach before 7, and it is time to get that washing out and the day to start well. I shall return from pegging that out and have a coffee and try to catch up with all your news and views, Hope that today goes well for everyone and that you all have something lovely happen, whether that is an unexpected visit with a friend or a successful dealing with recalcitrant workmen!

Good morning from Leamington. I arrived here yesterday after a very wet journey but good to see the girls and hear all their news, good and bad. Two of them are teenagers and have lots of angst in their lives.
I'm here mainly to stay with the girls tonight whilst my daughter and SIL go to Wembley to see Bon Jovi. A 50th present from him to her.

kittylester Wed 09-Sept-26 07:08:11

Good morning all from a damp looking North Leicestershire.

Up early today for the cleaner and DH's early gym session. No Wolfie today. He may be well enough for school but, if not, DSiL can work from home. It has been lovely to have his company over the last couple of days but he asks questions non-stop!!

I have ironing to do and plants to water.

Have the best day possible everyone.

RosesandLilac Wed 09-Sept-26 07:19:52

Good morning everyone it’s rather chilly here in south Glos, clear skies after yesterday’s rainy morning..
I gave several pots of blackberry and apple jam to friends yesterday, I love being able to do this.
I still have more blackberries in the freezer so I can make more in a month or so.
I don’t feel as if I did much yesterday yet I feel tired this morning. My cleaner comes today so I will stay out of her way in my Shed,; I have started a piece of sashiko so that’ll keep me occupied while I listen to an audiobook.
I will start tidying the back garden, now plants are looking more perky with the rain I can see what hasn’t survived the awful heat. A bit of gentle trimming will be nice in the sunshine.
I’ll change the bed too, get out a warmer duvet now to the nights are definitely cooler.
Take care everyone x
🌹

You sound like you could do with a hug Madeleine 🤗, sending you one with love x

WhiteSwan63 Wed 09-Sept-26 07:30:53

Good morning from the east coast and it’s lovely but chilly out.

I’m very emotional today we have my dear uncle’s life celebration at his assisted living this afternoon which I’ve organised. It’s a buffet and lots of thankyou’s to all the residents, carers and office staff who were so kind to him. We have done a couple of posters of him one of them is all the funny sayings he has said to us all over the years. My daughter was crying with laughing yesterday reading them all. My mum messaged me last night and said she was proud of me with all the work I’ve put into it. I need to pick up a spray of flowers for the table and then donating them to the office. He used to go and sit with them every morning and make them all laugh.

I have a lymphatic drainage massage this morning which I’m looking forward to. I’ve never had one before but I’m hoping it might put an end to swollen ankles which I sometimes suffer with. It could maybe be a monthly thing if I like it. I avoid massages like the plague but I know this is only a light one.

My little grandaughter starts school today so she will go proudly alongside her big sister. She was quite excited yesterday. The girls look beautiful with their deep tans from their holiday. Also my little grandson in China starts school today at 3 and four months old. They start a year earlier that ours. Their days are 8-15 to 5-15 and straight into lessons. They have a nap in the middle of the day. He’ll be a popular little boy I think. He admitted to me the other day that he likes his Chinese language better than English.

Wishing all travellers happy holidays and safe journeys.
Thoughts to those worrying about family and friends.
Have a good day 🌼

luluaugust Wed 09-Sept-26 07:32:30

Good morning from an overcast W Kent. I am off to visit my poorly foot friend this morning. She is weeks past the op but the foot is still swollen and now she is insisting on getting on with life which is making it worse. I have tried to suggest not trying to walk so far but a waste of breath, oh dear.
Best wishes

Deudits Wed 09-Sept-26 07:34:22

Good morning from France, Grammaretto, and safe travels to your lodgers. That second viewing is worth insisting on, and FGT's photos are the right idea; the thing that has worked for people going from a big house to a small one is to go round once more with the phone in your hand and say it as you walk, room by room: 'back bedroom, fitted wardrobe, radiator under the window, no socket by the bed'. A notebook does it if you can write and walk at the same time, or the voice notes on the phone, one note per room, so it's said once and can be played back when you're standing in the old house wondering whether the tallboy will fit. The photos go in with it, so the wardrobes and the radiators are settled once and stop coming back at three in the morning. You already know the trick, mind: writing this morning's list down bought you another hour's sleep. Good luck with the auctioneer, and I hope the computer man is ruthless with the hard drives.
