Good Morning Everyone,
A dark but dry start here in Brackley today.
Today I have a Wiltshire Farms ready meals delivery , so any movement will be done on when they arrive.
Some housework to do as well .
Health OK,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from an overcast Bristol. Some rain is forecast, but…?
Yesterday was quiet apart from the baptism in church. I made some marmalade to stock up.
The quilt is suddenly almost finished, the blocks are all made, just lining and interlining to do. I have no idea what I’ll do with it once finished. Charity shop?
Today is a bit uncertain as my neighbour’s friend isn’t sure she’ll be ok to go to Tesco. Everything depends on hope all the unwell are getting treated/sorted out/improving.

Good morning from Malta where another sunny day is dawning with a high of 38°C.

I spent the morning getting a lot of cleaning done yesterday plus a load of laundry out on the line.

The boys arrived late afternoon and were very good . I bathed them and they watched the start of Alcaraz’s match then went off to bed like angels and I watched the rest of the match then went to bed myself.

DGS1 cried out for a drink at around 1am but apart from that they’ve been quiet and are still asleep.

I’ve got them until 5pm so not sure what we will do all day. Still too hot for the park.

Wishing you all a good day.☀️

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 14° and looks damp in the streetlight. Yesterday I made it to Aldi then stripped the bed and got loads of washing done. I rested in between doing anything and ate very carefully. The pain has subsided but I know it's still lurking. Hopefully it won't be too long before I go for a scan.
Today is early childcare day and I have the boys all day because it's a local holiday. Dgs1 has a football camp so I will drop him off. Depending on how I feel, I might take dgs2 to soft play. Then I will pick up dgs1 and bring him back to my house for a couple of hours before taking him to football training. His mum will meet me there and pick up dgs2 from me. Then home to collapse! Have a good day all.

I hope Madeleine rests after her hospital visit yesterday.

Good morning from N Surrey. I think it is dry but still dark. A very pretty new moon is shining in the Eastern sky. Well it was about an hour ago when I made a mug of tea.
I also hope madeleine will have a rest for the next few days and that her leg improves.

This morning I will have a new washing machine delivered and fitted. Fingers crossed it will be a smooth exercise and no problems. I have a mountain of washing to do. The weather looks dry and sunny this week so that will help enormously.

I also have a mountain of paperwork to get on with following DHs death almost 4 weeks ago. How can it be 4 weeks. So sadly missed.

A cup of coffee calls now and I expect when I open the curtains it will be light now and maybe sunny already.
I wish us all a good day.

Good morning from s somerset, cool and drizzling just now

*Grandmabatty I am hoping you get your scan appointment very soon

A longer cycle ride yesterday morning and I got to the top of the very steep lane past the windmill, puffing and panting like a steam train. At the back of my mind I am wondering if that was the last time, I hope not but time and tide won`t wait for me. My 18 year old bike is a pedelec, ie pushes me when it senses that I struggle and it works at the maximum up that hill and so do I. I will keep a better eye on my weight, losing a bit more will help

The big load of washing dried well yesterday and that is all put away. Then I sat down after lunch and was gone, napped for an hour and woke feeling like a zombie. Watched a play on youtube, two lonely people in a spa, I cannot remember the title but it was good classic telly again

I decided to get another ocado smart pass, so I did and they brought me a delivery a few hours later. I saw a programme on hoarding and that sent me to the kitchen to look for ood tins etc, fortunately only one and that was a few years ood, salmon, red as well but it has gone out now

I made juice from carrots, celery and a lemon and can at last see clear space in my fridge drawer. I want an empty drawer so I can clean the fridge properly which would be a good start into autumn

I finished the first Maddison top, I never want to be without those, they are a bit warmer than t shirts, that was my 8th since I perfected the pattern.

Today, only two things, an allotment visit then craft group with friends.

Good morning, it’s dry and cloudy here in south Glos, definitely darker in the mornings as autumn draws in.
I made a big pot of ratatouille yesterday, I’ll freeze some and will enjoy having it with crusty bread or rice.
I cleaned the fridge, used the last of the veg box for dinner with chicken escalopes - there’s some new potatoes that need using up today.
I need to pay a cheque into the bank this morning, so a trip into town. Not my favourite drive as parking can be a pain but I’ll go early. Then I have a nurse appointment at midday for a big blood test (8 vials!) before a phone consultation with a haematologist on Friday.
Apparently my clotting times are causing concern…..🙄 I have no idea whether they’re too long or what!
I need to finish planting the bits I bought on Saturday and start tidying the back garden now it’s cooler. I deadheaded the roses yesterday.
I’ll pop into Lidl on my way back from town for a few bits, I need milk and some vegetables. I’m out of tinned tomatoes and passata.
Best wishes to everyone 🌹

Good morning from a rather dull looking Torbay. I struggled to sleep because it was so warm overnight.

Today I need to go and book seats for a rail trip we are planning on Thursday by which time DH will be here. DGS3 is in a play in Rugeley so we will just go up for one night to see his opening performance.

Later this morning it’s my exercise class being taken by the teacher’s daughter as she herself is having a cataract operation. The daughter is lovely but doesn’t quite realise the pace with which we can cope!

Wishing you all a good day!

Good morning from a brightening S E Essex.

The 11yr old starts senior school today, I think I am more nervous than he is.

Ned change and off to the gym this morning, then I need to sort out what I need to pack for our trip to Jersey.

Thinking of our poorly morning friends and those with worries 🌺. Helterskelter 💐

madeleine45 Mon 07-Sept-26 06:55:40

Good morning Micheal and all GN's from a dark still morning in North Yorkshire. I can just see the outline of the tree against the sky, have Elgar on radio 3 and hopefully today I will be more compos mentis and slowly start to get things back to whatever passes as normal here.

I eventually came back to the posts late yesterday and have told the tale of the hospital visit etc for those who want to read the rest of that saga. Felt totally shattered yesterday, but mentally a lot better, and that is by far the most important bit rather than the physical. However I think I had been keeping so much tension and worry pushed down, that when after all the tests etc the doctor said that it was not deep vein thrombosis or other nasty things I just said thankyou for all the things they had done, and agreed that I would come home, without further antibiotics. That I would take care and see how it went, and the slightest change for the worst would be back at the hospital, but was so glad to escape and go home, even if everything was a total mess .

So yesterday was an odd day, I felt really exhausted and my muscles ached and I was at times , just sat there , doing nothing, not even reading, but with radio 3 on. I think it was taking a time to sink in and feel that I had dodged the bullet, and things will get better now. I couldnt think of anything I wanted to cook, nor any jobs that I felt like doing, so rang the local simple pub, who do a sunday lunch and checked if I could get lunch there, as they are very popular and get booked up quickly. I was in luck. They are just what I like, in that as a small place they are like visiting family for sunday lunch. Well cooked food, with good gravy and of the quality that I would make myself, but not that restaurant style.

So I was there for 12 o clock and it was already quite full. I know there are many who go every week and that quite a few people who live alone and have family visiting go there so that they are not doing the cooking but can have a good meal. The roast beef and yorkshire were very good and of course good gravy and freshly cooked selection of vegetable. I went mad and had a small Medoc to go with it and have to say that it disappeared at a rate of knots, and I relaxed as I enjoyed both the meal, and the pleasant atmosphere. It was very calming and let me feel that at last I am getting things back to something like normal .

I came home with the intention of doing some sorting out of the chaos, but made a cup of coffee, sat down to check some papers and promptly fell asleep , waking to very cold coffee about 3pm. So I made more coffee and ignored any jobs but sat and watched the Burghley Horse trials, and then later the antiques road show and vigil, so was just recovering and only sort of got going late in the evening, but did wash up and put a few things away.

Still not sleeping well or long, but I do feel I have turned a corner mentally, and whilst I am only too aware of the many things awaiting my attention, that really uptight and edgy feeling has gone, as I feel back in charge of my life, and able to work out what needs to be done next, without that tensing up where you feel that things are going wrong and you might end up being shoved to do things you dont want to!!

So here I am starting a better day. For one thing, I walked into a clean kitchen with the washing up done. That is a better start and lets me feel I amon top of things. My first important thing I must do, is get the calendar and diary out and put appointments and stuff in, so that I dont miss something important. At least all the kerfuffle has helped me NOT to dwell on the dentist tomorrow, but I also know that I wont be having any treatment anyway, because I would not risk having anything unnecessary done until I am physically a bit better. If the weather stays dry, I hope to take my chair out and sit on the grass, looking at all the borders and planning for future efforts. It is really good to be sat here just thinking in a normal way of what I may or may not get round to doing. At the least I will go through the ironing mounting and put it in order , which I may then later attack with a radio play or concert to enjoy with it, but just wait and see how I feel later.

I am going to go back and read up the last couple of days posts as I feel that I have missed out and want to catch up on all your doings. My son will be 51 tomorrow, how can that be? No I think it is me who should be 51!! Had originally planned to meet up with them but all this has meant that we didnt get together. They sent me a good picture of my grandson in his new school uniform ready for the first day at his new school. Well as soon as my leg is better I shall try and organise a meeting somewhere.

Hope your delivery comes early Mick. Did you get to see any of the cycle race round here? I think it was a Lloyds race from the coast and up round swaledale and wensleydale. GrandMattie Is there a charity you support who could have a raffle for your lovely quilt to raise money for them.? I am sure many people would love the opportunity of receiving such a lovely thing and also helping the charity too. Or put it carefully away for now and when we get nearer to christmas you might raffle it yourself at your church or again give it to a charity to sell or raffle.GrandmaBatty thank you for your good wishes and I shall go back to read what has been happening to you as I have obviously missed some things. Helterskelter, good luck with the washing machine and hope it will be merrily sorting out your pile soon.

Well I too am in need of a decent cup of coffee and then a slow start to jobs. My beloved Bach before 7 is just about to start, my best calmer, relaxer and joy , far better than any tablets. Wishing you all a good start to your week, and may you relax into that school term time peace and get to see old friends and catch up with all the news. Have a happy day everyone

Good morning everyone from a cloudy ☁ Northampton, but hopefully it will stay dry.
Up early as it is yoga first thing, but just enjoying my ritual mug of tea and a biscuit.

Enjoyed my opera screening of La Traviata yesterday, as did my friend, who afterwards admitted it was the first opera she had ever seen! While we were at the cinema we made arrangements to see the new Sense and Sensibility which is being released in a couple of weeks.

Town was very busy as there was a big music festival going on, with live music of varying genres being performed at various venues across the town. Arriving in town I was greeted by a rock'n'roll band, and in the market square a solo girl singer. I later stopped near the guildhall to listen to a very good singer/guitarist performing his own songs.

Nothing much planned for after yoga except for fitting in my mile walk, then catching up with the weekend newspapers.

Wishing all a pleasant Monday.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is dry at the moment but we may have rain at some point.

DS didn’t make it here yesterday; he phoned to say he’d slipped on the stairs, pulled a muscle in his calf and was in pain so wouldn’t be able to drive. We had a long face time (which I hate) conversation on the phone, but I missed his company. In the afternoon I had a walk along the lanes and picked some sloes (for this year’s sloe gin!). I wasn’t expecting to find many but came home with nearly a pound - and some windfall apples which were delicious. I buy apples every week but can’t resist a windfall and they tasted better than anything you can buy in the supermarket, being old varieties. I ate them with some cheese. I met a neighbour on the way home and we had a long chat.

Today I must bite the bullet and buy a new fridge so I shall be off to do that this morning at a local retail park.

Have the best day you can, folks.

Good morning from a dull, overcast Durham. I’ve slept badly, been awake since 5.40, anxious in case I overslept.
All packed, ready to go and meeting DD2 at her house ready for our flight to Heathrow - the first stage of our trip to New York. My hire car is being picked up after 11am, so SinL will see to that after he’s dropped us off at Newcastle airport.
Hope the ‘poorlies’ are starting to feel better this week and that internet issues are resolved. (*MD*).

Best wishes to all. X

Morning all from a dull S Hants, a shower predicted later, we still need a lot more rain than that.
Typical Sunday yesterday, quiet, it seems to be my online shopping day, I bought some asters and a jumper. Today it’s back on the voluntary phone, kitchen tidy up and check my food store.
Safe journey Georgesgran.
I’m glad you’ve been reassured * Madeleine*

Good morning from a sunny Suffolk where it should be a good drying day for a load of washing which is nearly ready to be hung outside.

I’ve just had a message from a friend about meeting up this week so I’ll probably see her later today as the rest of the week is busy with lunches out on Wednesday,Thursday and Friday with different friends.

Now that schools are back, places around here will be quieter and we locals return to our favourite places to meet up and socialise.

Hope those who aren’t feeling their best have a better day than recently.

Gingster Mon 07-Sept-26 07:49:48

Good morning and another lovely day is forecast here in Essex. We do really need some rain though.🤞.

Yesterday I got a lot done , changing beds , gardening and generally pottering . DS1 and DIL came for afternoon tea, although DS never has anything to drink or eat. We had a good chat and ince again they helped me with some Bank business. 😤.

Today ds2 will be coming and we have a visit from the accountant to help us fill in tax forms. It will be nice to have DS here to fill in gaps I know nothing about.
Dh will sit and listen but can’t shed much light on things. We bought the cottage nearly 30 years ago, so memories fade, especially when you’ve had a stroke.

I’m glad Madeleine is feeling more positive and reassured. 💐. I missed the post about you going to hospital.

Don’t overdo it RandL. Pace yourself.

GB I hope your pain stays away. 🙏. You have a busy day with the boys. Take it easy.

Watched The Alcatraz and Paul match. Fantastic play. 🎾.

Take care all and seize the day.
