Good Morning Thursday 3rd September 2026

Good morning from Bristol. It rained in the night, but none is forecast for today, although it’ll remain cloudy.
Yesterday’s FAB cafe went well with over 22 attendees, only a few of whom came for the cancelled live concert. Everyone seemed happy.
While serving,I received a text from DGD1 asking if we could meet for lunch as she was going to the hairdresser in the next village. Yes, yes and yes! I thought she wanted to eat out, but, no, she wanted to have some of Grandma’s homemade tomato soup! (Her favourite is my squash soup).
We had a lovely couple of hours together , looking through my very large collection of earrings and picking the ones she wanted. Then she set off home.
I finished my last patchwork block, then arranged them on the floor for assembly. There are no two the same, but I didn’t want two of the same colour or patten to be adjacent. Now comes the job of sewing them together.
Today is empty, other than t’ai chi. I’m not going to DD’s as the other day when I mentioned seeing them, she made “it not convenient” noises. I shall invent an excuse.

Good morning from s somerset, it feels autumnal here, the sun will be out after lunch

My dress is finished and I am more than pleased, This one is viscose twill, perfect for autumn and I am going to make another in viscose twill. I have ordered the fabric and a longer zip, I was surprised but I can do up my own back zip.

It was an easy day yesterday and I think it will be similar today, no big adventures, just a walk and crafts at home

Good morning, everyone! Just trying to open my eyes here. I’m still tired from working last night and don’t have much energy to get up yet. Maybe a cup of coffee will give me the little boost I need!

Today is busier.DH will drop me off for a physio appointment arranged by our insurers after our car accident.He will go to our stretch and balance class then I will meet him after to do the food shop.A few things to do in town as well.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is still dark but we will have a dry but cloudy day it seems. Yesterday I went early to the gym and then to a nearby retail park to continue my search for a new fridge. All the while my car was throwing up ambiguous error messages on the dash about coolant levels which it said were OK so why block out important bits of my heads up display to tell me that. The user manual is useless. I phoned the dealership to ask them how I get rid of it. They said they would come back to me. They haven’t. So I’ve stuck with it. One more irritation. In the afternoon, I sorted out a huge pile of paper bank statements (DH didn’t believe in throwing things away!) which I shall now have to shred. A job for a wet day! The job of clearing the filing cabinet goes on.

Walking group this morning. For one reason or another I have missed the last four weeks so it will be good to be back. I’ll have lunch with DD and then I have a much needed hairdressing appointment in the afternoon.

GM the quilt will be beautiful, I love that it is different style.
We are off today for 10 days. Three days in Hereford and seven in St Davids. We are taking the electric bikes and shall potter about for the rest of the time. We have two lovely Air B and B cottages. One has a hot tub so remember to take my costume.

Good morning all.

I’m having an awful week as I have a severe dental infection in a back molar. It started out of nowhere on Tuesday. Yesterday I got a dental appointment and was prescribed antibiotics. Tooth will be removed tomorrow. My face on one side is bright red and swollen and the pain is horrendous. I’ve taken 4 amoxicillin so far but they haven’t made the swelling go down yet. The dentist charged me £42 for a 5 day course. Painkillers are doing very little and I’m feeling quite ill. On Monday I’m supposed to be having a pre-op assessment for my hip replacement. I imagine there will be a delay after this.

The GCs are all back at school and GD1 will be back at Newcastle uni at the end of the month.

Good Morning everyone from a cloudy central south coast. There were a few raindrops on the window when I got up but it is dry at the moment.

DD and her soon to be husband (on 21 December) are calling in for a cuppa this morning en route to the annual festival they have been going to for over 20 years. I thought the visit was last Thursday and didn't realise until they didn't show up that I was a week out! Be nice to see them both, albeit not for long.

I have to finish my Tesco delivery order for tomorrow and come up with a "bitsa" meal for later. Luckily, DH is not in the least bit fussy and will eat whatever I come up with.

I love the fishy quilt, GM! It is very vibrant and will brighten the lucky recipient's day. I am always in awe of your skills along with those of karma who must have been a couturier in her previous life. Such skills and knowledge!

Thinking of all our GNs with struggles or worries of any kind and hope today brings some relief and ease.

I had my hair cut yesterday, it’s really not what I asked for which happens so often that I do wonder if hairdressers ever listen or just have their favourite style and give it to everyone.

Childminding today, I haven’t had time to shop for food for their house so it will be something from M&S picked up on the way.

Good morning everyone from a getting lighter Lancashire.

Yesterday's 1st day of the Jigsaw Festival went very well. We were very busy from the moment we opened, as we always are on the 1st day. There were some familiar faces who come every year. It's £2 entry but if they keep their programme they can return as many times as they like. The display changes constantly as we replace sold jigsaws with another from stock so we have people who come each day to choose another puzzle. The puzzles are at least half the price of a new jigsaw so lots of people stock up for the winter.

It's our main fundraiser for the year which helps to keep the bills paid but it's also a wonderful community experience.

My friend arrived from Canvey Island at teatime and we'll be going along as customers today.

DH spent the day with the little chap.
They went out and got him passport photos so we can apply for a passport and plan a holiday next year. It's a convoluted process because he's been a child in care so we're starting early.

The weather was mixed here so I hope it was better for Madeleine at the Muker show.

Good morning all from a cloudy North Leicestershire.

Our wall is being fixed today - hooray. It was hit by a runaway truck earlier in the year. The owner of the truck has claimed the repair on his insurance. The insurers deducted £300 because there were signs of wear and tear already. The wall has only been there for 150 years!

I have a Memory Cafe this morning and then we have a 'Telling Tales' session in the library put on by one of the village writing groups.

Good morning from a dull looking Torbay, but the weather is still mild.

Yesterday I spent a lovely few hours with my upstairs neighbour whom I rarely see to exchange news. I went for coffee and didn’t get back until 2 pm!

Today’s excitement is a delivery from Asda as I can’t manage to carry grocery shopping up the steps at the front of my home. I miss my Lidl visits but DH will reinstate those when he’s here from next week. 😀

I hope today brings relief from pain for those who are struggling and that all the young people starting new terms at school or university soon settle in.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 14° and damp, although not actually raining. GrandMattie that's a lovely quilt. Glammagran poor you. That sounds very sore and bad timing!
Yesterday I managed to get a doctor's appointment for Friday afternoon, so that's something. I worked in the school library for an hour, fixing and processing books. The nursery were using the extra space for singing and movement and they had their hands full! Of course, they have many new wee ones because the older children started school. Dd messaged me later to tell me dgs2 had got homework and he was so excited about it, he had to do it right away! He was to draw 3 things that begun with the letter A and he drew an apple, an ant and a weird green thing that was apparently an avocado. A very middle class wean. 😂
Today I will head to the school for a quick tidy, then go to the Pavers outlet at the garden centre. I need shoes which are comfortable. Then home to make meatballs in tomato sauce and a plum crumble. Have a good day all.

Good morning everyone from a cloudy but very mild mid Essex. Yesterday was a cloudy and windy day, flower pots blowing about the garden.
I need to defrost the freezer in the garage, but there’s too much in it at the moment. I took out a number of very out of date items along with some identifiable items. It took a while but there’s more to do.
I’ll go for a walk this morning, then do a little gardening, will try to put more plants in the front garden, but the soil is dry again.
The 11 year old DGD survived her first day at High school and only got lost once when changing lessons.

Good morning from Malta where it’s sunny with a high of 36°C forecast.

I’m bleary-eyed having woken at 2am in order to watch Alcaraz’s match at the US Open. I was annoyed to find I had nodded off and missed the final set, so came back to bed and set the alarm for 8.

Had a lovely day yesterday, my friend was late picking me up but I wasn’t surprised as in all the 45 years we’ve been friends I have never known her to be on time!

We enjoyed our chat over coffee although she was pressing me to have something to eat and wasn’t happy when I said no thanks. I wish people would understand. I can’t eat if I’m not hungry.

Anyway, she dropped me off in the village as I needed to get some cash (I’m old-fashioned, still like to have cash on me) then I walked back home which was pleasant as there was enough shade to avoid the sun bearing down.

I’ve got my nails this morning then not much else.

glammagran, commiserations re your tooth. I think toothache s one of the most agonising of pains, made even worse nowadays by the dentist’s bill! £42 for antibiotics is extortionate! I pay for all my pills here and antibiotics don’t cost even half of that. Someone is making a massive profit.😡

I must stop rambling and drink my tea. I can’t bear it if it isn’t hot!

While the cleaner was here yesterday I started preparing a piece of crewelwork, taping the edges to stop fraying and sorting out colours. DH took bigger dog to the village and had a walk before a coffee at the cafe and tiddler watched everything from the settee when she wasn’t snoring 😊
