It Must Be Autumn Even Though It's Not September....

I’ve been on high alert as we always start seeing them in August and I’ve counted 5 so far in the last couple of weeks. I hate it and can’t relax until it stops in November. They terrify me.

The house martins are still nesting, so in my mind it’s not Autumn yet. When they leave is the beginning for me.

Sorry arachnophobes but this one appeared in my living room yesterday, about the size of a teacup. We put it outside but I expect it will be back.

totally agree, I am terrified of spiders, it's either them or me ,and it's my house, they are not welcome..

That pic looks a bit like an Australian huntsman. Many are as big as your hand, massive things. Maybe one came over in some fruit ? They do bite but they don’t kill you, unlike some others we have here.

I feel sorry for arachnophobes, I can understand why they look scary, but they don’t worry me in the slightest. Although one we met in the Maldives the size of a saucer had me standing on the bed whilst DH went for help.

It is scorpions and cockroaches that terrify me.

I quite like spiders and mostly just leave them alone. I just don't like them in the bedroom at night though, so catch them with my spider catcher and put them in the spare bedroom. I used to put them outside until I read that this can kill them.
There was a huge one (really really huge) in the kitchen a couple of weeks ago, and since then I've seen three smaller ones. So I guess it's their mating season.

They have as much right to be here as we do.

Huge spider in my kitchen sink this morning underneath the washing up bowl! It panicked (I didnt, I don't mind spiders!), then I managed to get it into the bowl and took it outside where I hope it lives happily ever after.

One dropped onto my head last night just as I was dropping off, I brushed it off, put the light on, and dread, I don't know where it went. A restless night followed !

For me it depends on the spider.
The ones with thin wavery legs don't bother me too much. If I see the bigger ones with thicker legs well in advance on a good day they'll get the glass and coaster exit.
If they surprise me however that's a whole different ball game and death is quick and merciful.

This is a nightmare time for me with spiders. They make me physically ill and leave me feeling really anxious. I can't wait for the season to be over.

Can't wait for autumn and the cooler weather and change of season. Not keen on spiders though.

I've bought peppermint reed diffusers and peppermint spray because they used to love my conservatory. Seems to have done the trick. Hope it stays that way!

Huge Daddy Long Legs on the bedroom ceiling last week. Seemed to be checking the room out.

Quite like house spiders as they are entertaining and amusing.

Also eat dead insects and moths and keep your house clean.

Spiders don't scare me and I always used to put them outside. One bit me 3 times on my finger so now I just stamp on them. My finger just went red then slowly peeled and was normal in a week. It wasn't as painful as a wasp sting.
OH was bitten on his leg several times by a false widow. He didn't feel it bite. It took over 2 months to heal with several GP appointments and 2 courses of antibiotics. He does react badly to any insect bites though
