Spiders and spider's webs in the house seem to be a year round problem in our house.

Ours too. They seem to be everywhere. I’ve never seen so many cobwebs.

We would die if we did kill things. the whole of life on earth is based on organic life feeding on organic life whether you are talking of apex predators, or micro organisms on the sea floor and every mammal, fish, insect plant and microbe in between.

I don't mind spiders; it is the moths which irritate me. Drew back the curtains last night to let fresh air in , only to be assaulted by two moths who circled round me in bed rather than going for the lamp or water glass, their usual choice, until I accidently squashed one on the bedclothes in trying to bat it away.

My car screen was on dark mode for the first time when I got in to drive home about 7.45pm. Night's drawing in, I suppose.

Not bothered by them, but MrJ not keen, we have big flappy moths, they hide, then leap out towards me - I'm not fond of them.

No messing about here either, hoover snozzle out and I suck the blighter up, though I will wack it with a brush if it doesn’t give me time to get the hoover.
Big buggers they are, lurking in the bathroom until I get on the loo then I am stuck there praying it doesn’t move because nine times out of ten it will gallop towards me 😡

I'm very happy for it to become Autumnal - I've found the heat this summer unbearable and have felt like a prisoner alot of the time - indoors under the fan with windows and blinds drawn! Looking forward to crunching leaves in the woods, hot chocolate, Sunday roasts and making Christmas gifts 🥰

I don't mind spiders. It's things that can get about without legs that make me shudder.

Started seeing those almost palm sized spiders about a month ago here. They really terrify me and after seeing one in the bedroom just cannot sleep for days. Every room I go in I look around for them. I hoover them up, have to take off the nozzle end of the Dyson as otherwise they are too big to get sucked up. Empty the cleaner outside and kill the spiders with a big shovel.

Apparently they also dislike white vinegar diluted with water.

Spiders don't scare me and I always used to put them outside. One bit me 3 times on my finger so now I just stamp on them. My finger just went red then slowly peeled and was normal in a week. It wasn't as painful as a wasp sting.
OH was bitten on his leg several times by a false widow. He didn't feel it bite. It took over 2 months to heal with several GP appointments and 2 courses of antibiotics. He does react badly to any insect bites though

Huge Daddy Long Legs on the bedroom ceiling last week. Seemed to be checking the room out.

Quite like house spiders as they are entertaining and amusing.

Also eat dead insects and moths and keep your house clean.

I've bought peppermint reed diffusers and peppermint spray because they used to love my conservatory. Seems to have done the trick. Hope it stays that way!

Can't wait for autumn and the cooler weather and change of season. Not keen on spiders though.

This is a nightmare time for me with spiders. They make me physically ill and leave me feeling really anxious. I can't wait for the season to be over.

Spider season! David Attenborough and Chris Packham can go on about how fascinating spiders are until the cows come home but if I see one, it's curtains. No faffing around with a glass and a piece of cardboard and then ushering them outside. They are called house spiders for a reason so they will be back. Time to get the peppermint spray out and keep a spare slipper for whacking.

For me it depends on the spider.
The ones with thin wavery legs don't bother me too much. If I see the bigger ones with thicker legs well in advance on a good day they'll get the glass and coaster exit.
If they surprise me however that's a whole different ball game and death is quick and merciful.

One dropped onto my head last night just as I was dropping off, I brushed it off, put the light on, and dread, I don't know where it went. A restless night followed !

I wonder if the heat was too much even for spiders & they made their way in for a bit of shade?

I’ve had spiders in my house all summer, there’s cobwebs everywhere.

Huge spider in my kitchen sink this morning underneath the washing up bowl! It panicked (I didnt, I don't mind spiders!), then I managed to get it into the bowl and took it outside where I hope it lives happily ever after.
