Why when I wear a white tee shirt do I always get sun screen or make up round the neck, however careful I am. When I put bleach down the loo why does it only splash when I have black trousers on? I opened a bottle of nail varnish remover earlier and lost half the contents trying to put some on a cotton wool pad. I had pulled off the little cap with the hole in it along with the screw top.

Bleach down the loo ? Do it in your PJs , before you go to bed
Same with make-up
No suggestion for nail polish remover 😂

Sorry I meant , do your make-up before you get your nice white t-shirt on….

Husband always wears a new white T-shirt and drips tomato sauce on it. He doesn’t allow me to do a hot wash resulting in no stain removal. He feel hot wash will shrink it.

Try soaking it in cold water and bleach, for quite a while, then wash as normal.
This method has worked really well on my white trainer socks!

I’m another one who can totally relate to this. Sometimes feel I need head to toe overalls!

but I would then get make-up all over the shirt putting it on, no mater how careful I was.

Actually. I tuck a small towel round my neck before I put make-up on, regardles sof the colour of my clothes.

My DH is the same, he can wear a striped polo shirt and always gets something on the white bit.

Yesterday morning my lovely cleaning lady spent ages removing a curry stain from my lounge carpet (don't ask!). About 20 minutes after she left I made a salad for my lunch. I went into the lounge to get my book, then sat at the dining room table and ate my lunch.

When I took a cuppa into the lounge later, there were two large dark green stains on my carpet. I realised I had dropped a spinach leaf on the floor whilst making lunch and managed to tread it into the lounge carpet. Exactly where the curry stain had been. hmm

Ban the wearing of white t-shirts by messy husbands.

My son used to groan if he saw me in white, he knew I would soon be dropping food on myself. Strange thing is as he gets older he’s developed the same habit!

This morning I managed to get Weetabix all over the clean pastel green jumper I had put on 20 minutes earlier. Oh well, I’m only planning on doing the garden today so it doesn’t really matter.

Suggest he does his own laundry then!

Do your make up before putting t shirt on, and then drape a silky scarf over your head before pulling the t shirt over your head

Smileless2012 Fri 08-May-26 13:43:19

I've thought about doing that grumppa but Mr. S. looks so good in them.

I'm the same, hence why I usually stick to dark colours now!

I know what you mean Allsorts. If I start a day like that I just know there's more to come. Then some days I think cor that was a lucky miss.

Can't help with the general mess! But nail varnish remover in a pot - little sponge with aperture for digit - is great.

gransruleok Fri 08-May-26 14:11:24

“Doesn’t allow you” Catterygirl, crikey, what century are you from?

polnan Fri 08-May-26 14:13:46

I need a bib when I eat!

mokryna Fri 08-May-26 14:15:41

I try not to wear plain coloured tops or dresses when eating at home. Eating out is a bit of a problem though, so I try to wear a silk scarf and use it as protection, as my napkin is on my lap.

AuntieE Fri 08-May-26 14:20:00

You can get rid of any food stain by putting washing-up liquid on it when the garment is taken of, Let the washing-up liquid dry completely then wash the garment on the cycle you usually use for it.

I am not certain this works so well for removing make-up stains, or sun-screen, but it is worth a try.

Please do stop using bleach - either for your washing, or especially for cleaning the toilet.

Bleach is very bad for the environment for one thing, and putting in the toilet will damage the surface of the porcelain, making it even more difficult to keep clean.

I have a scarf specifically for this purpose which I put over my face when dressing or undressing the top half. Does not avoid it all the time as you blend the makeup on the neck so that touches your garments at times. I wear a sweatshirt uniform and often have a bit of makeup on that but at least it washes easily
