I am not a messy person but...

Why when I wear a white tee shirt do I always get sun screen or make up round the neck, however careful I am. When I put bleach down the loo why does it only splash when I have black trousers on? I opened a bottle of nail varnish remover earlier and lost half the contents trying to put some on a cotton wool pad. I had pulled off the little cap with the hole in it along with the screw top.

Check out Nancy Birtwhistle she has every eco friendly stain remover you could wish for.

I could spill a cheese sandwich! I was once in a posh hotel in Italy and spilt a drop of sauce on my top. To my horror a waiter came with a spray and cleaned it in front of everyone. 😳 Again on holiday I had a glass of wine and some nachos with sauces on top. It was only when I spotted myself in a shop window that I realised I had one stuck to my top with cheese 🫣

I wish I could wear black leggings, but with a white-haired spaniel who has free-range in the house, it's just hopeless.

I spray toothpaste over my clothes, very hard to sponge off, and I cannot train myself to clean my teeth in my underwear/ nightclothes.

Oh yes, so easy with an electric toothbrush. Mainly I have trained myself to bend well over the sink.

Talking about stains, now that I am in a retirement flat, and feeling I wouldn't need a dishwasher for one person, I get so fed up with stained mugs..... so hard to get stains off without using bleach.... Currently using scourers!

Steradent tablets will bleach mugs, as will Milton (or similar) bottle sterilising tablets. I still use a spot of bleach, it really only takes a few drops and fill with water, leave for an hour.

If you spray the neck or collar of your top with hair spray, let it dry completely, and then put it on after you’ve done your face, then it won’t be stained with make up. The hair spray repels it.

Bluedaisy Fri 08-May-26 18:44:29

Allsorts for the make up, put a silk square scarf over your head before putting your tee shirt on over head, not only does it save make up getting on your shirt if you’ve done your hair it keeps your hair perfect too.

Catterygirl. Vanish is brilliant for putting in with any washing to get tomato sauce and most stains out.

No white T-shirts - ever ... red rag to a bull!

No make-up either ... easier to be authentic.

And no bleach splashes - a septic tank demands the use of environmentally-friendly cleaning products.

Washing up liquid and a sprinkling of bicarb left on the stain for about half an hour before washing is good at getting most stains out, particularly grease marks.

My son used to groan if he saw me in white, he knew I would soon be dropping food on myself. Strange thing is as he gets older he’s developed the same habit!

It’s such a relief to know I’m not the only one,I’m 67 and I’ve been doing it for a few years now 😂 especially when I’ve put a freshly washed top on my husband says he doesn’t know how I could miss my mouth 😂

I am not one usually for new things just because of the hype, but the new Tallow and Ash stain pen is amazing, tomato sauce off a white t shirt straight away.

That’s useful to know thanks 😃

I've just bought myself a lovely pair of summer trousers, and a white top, to be on the safe side, ive bought 2 white tops, can't be too careful, especially when you're away on holiday

Bleach is very evil creature and has a mind of its own. Likes to for a splash wherever it wants. Also smells vikes.

The Beast Chemical.👹

That made me laugh.
Even when you’re careful you often find small bleach marks on clothing.
I bought a huge pinny which swathes me from head to foot some years ago but often forget to don it before bleaching.

I'm a reliably messy eater 🙄 I pre treat all stains by rubbing in washing liquid, such as Fairy, Bold etc. Then I wash as normal.with a wash capsule in a 40 wash, stains are gone every time

midgey Fri 08-May-26 16:56:22

I don’t have this r regularly, it only happens when I’m wearing something I really mind about!☹️

Husband always wears a new white T-shirt and drips tomato sauce on it. He doesn’t allow me to do a hot wash resulting in no stain removal. He feel hot wash will shrink it.

How does he know what temperature you’re using? 🤷‍♀️

Haha, yes, hot wash it when he goes out.😉

DP is a cigar smoker and often manages to knock the ashtray off onto the carpet with lit cigar and all, resulting in little burn marks all around his chair🙈
I specialise in red wine stains🤭

My OH knows that if he chooses to wear white, including sports socks, he’s on his own.

Yesterday morning my lovely cleaning lady spent ages removing a curry stain from my lounge carpet (don't ask!). About 20 minutes after she left I made a salad for my lunch. I went into the lounge to get my book, then sat at the dining room table and ate my lunch.

When I took a cuppa into the lounge later, there were two large dark green stains on my carpet. I realised I had dropped a spinach leaf on the floor whilst making lunch and managed to tread it into the lounge carpet. Exactly where the curry stain had been. hmm

You know you do it on purpose 😂

Rub some neat washing up liquid into the stain and leave overnight before washing.

As white is a colour surely bleach would take out the colour and make it natural which has happened to me in the past. I now use soda granules which often does the trick

Estrellita Fri 08-May-26 16:19:28

Sounds just like me. If anything can go wrong it will.
