Do you wear a practical pinny about the house?

I wear a butcher's style apron when I'm cooking but otherwise no.
Perhaps I should because, if there's anything available to spill, I can spill it.

DH says in astonishment "How did you manage to miss your mouth and get it down you?"

I wear an apron for any messy household tasks, and always when I wash the dishes. It's an old habit from childhood.
And it makes sense to just protect your clothing. But I don't keep it on all day, or even beyond the task in hand, as that makes me feel a bit 'housewifey'... or something.

I have never worn an apron and certainly I would never dream of doing it. My grandmother did in the 40's and 50's. To me they are old fashioned and horrendous.

Hate them too- but thinking about it, as we should all try to use less water and electricity- they make sense.

Have one but never wear it.

Not an apron with ties as I could never get them to sit straight somehow, but I do have two tabards, one for cooking the other for cleaning tasks. They both have big pockets at the front that are useful for all sorts of things. I use both every day.

Once one of those is on I feel as though I'm ready to get down to work!

Only when I am cooking, if I remember

No, I don’t possess one. But I did change from a white polo shirt to a navy tee before dinner last night as beetroot was involved.

Only when I am baking because as much as I love to bake I can’t stand flour everywhere.

This summer I’ve taken to wearing the same sleeveless linen dress (a cheap one!) around the house but always wear an apron when cooking and washing up (no dishwasher but a very good husband - usually...).

Me too only occasionally when doing a lot of Baking, I'm a flour thrower too.

I wear the old fashioned ones which cross over at the back when I'm doing housework, cooking or gardening. I'm clumsy and would be changing my clothes all the time because of spills if I didn't wear my pinny. I have them in lots of lovely patterns and colours and don't feel old fashioned in them (but then I don't really 'do' fashionable. Seasalt and Joules are my favourites.

The pockets are such a boon that I often go to put something in my pinny pocket even when I'm not wearing my pinny.

I have a chefs type apron, I wear for cooking especially if frying- oil etc.

Never! My mother used to insist that I wore one when helping in the house, which made me determined never to do so when I left home (along with never again wearing a vest!)

I would want to wash the pinny if it got dirty, so I might just as well wash the clothes I wear.

I do when cooking, take it off for eating and proceed to throw my food down my front.

I've never even owned one let alone wore one. My Nans both wore the crossover ones and i remember making a gingham one in junior school i wonder where that went ?

I have two or three aprons. I wear them when I'm cooking or baking. Occasionally I'll wear one all day.

I wear one for cooking and a different one that I keep for wearing in the garden.

I occasionally wear one when cooking something messy and keep it on to eat, but not very often. I mostly wear okd clothes around the house. Today I am wearing yesterday’s stained top and cotton trousers full of holes which I shall change out of when I have finished my messy jobs.
My mum used to wear a full apron right from getting up till after washing up the lunch things. Then she had a rest and then put on a half apron until after tea. It is not as if she wore smart clothes as hers were holier than mine! She had lots of better ones, of course, saved for “ best”.

I have a black wraparound black vinyl pinny. Lead me to the Abbattoir.

I wear an apron when cooking (a denim one from Toast which will probably "see me out") cos I like to have something to wipe my hands on, and I have a separate one for when I'm (attempting) picture painting.

Always wear an apron when cooking (over the head and tie round the back type) as I tend to splash sauces etc.

Like kittylester I always remove it before sitting down to eat in order to throw food down my front …

I’ve never worn one either, one of our first tasks in Home Economics was to make an apron and a matching cap I. Red gingham fabric, I don’t remember what happened to it. My mother used to wear what I think were called ‘house coats’ around the house when she was cleaning or cooking, probably because she had very few clothes until later on in her life.
