to the GN site!
Ever since Christmas I seem to dip in and out much more, I’m watching threads, have even instigated a couple myself (oh heck - now here’s another one!) and am generally on it more & more.
Do I need help?
Or just need to get a life/ a hobby/ out more?
It’s just that some of the topics are so interesting! ?

Ha ha me too Urmstongran ! Noticed you on the same threads as me. I'm enjoying it, especially the 5.2 thread.I suspect it's because it's cold and dark and we're slimming, it's taking my mind away from food, and that has to be a good thing.

Jane10 Thu 24-Jan-19 20:27:32

It's not just you. When I was stuck in for ages following knee replacement ops between GN and Bonesmart forums I felt I was chatting to people all day. It was lovely. There's always threads to avoid but lots to check on. It's nice to share experiences even if it's just opinions on TV programmes.
You'll have to come to a meet up next...

I am on more often atm because of my bad back so I cannot get out and about as much! I usually have a 40 day break from social media during Lent and try to spend my time doing something more constructive & useful. hmm

KatyK Thu 24-Jan-19 20:57:52

Me too. I've got the lurgy so I'm lying about.

Pat1949 Thu 24-Jan-19 21:15:56

Jane 10 I was drifting between websites after a knee replacement. I think it's actually saved my sanity. I've been locked in the house with hubby after developing virus 10 days after coming out of hospital. The knee replacement was fine, but the viirus I've had since Christmas day is only just going. I'm 70 next month and was actually wondering if I was going to make it. But feel better today, so all's good. ??

My sole companion

Charleygirl5 Thu 24-Jan-19 21:33:07

Join the club. I think at times it has saved me money because my eyes have been glued to this machine and I have not been out and about spending money.

It also saved my sanity after my knee replacement last year. My last op is the best thing since sliced bread.

Wow ladies - this is SUCH a relief to hear I’m not alone hehe!
I was thinking I’d have to stand up and say ‘hi - my name is * and I am addicted to GN’ or something similar!
Nice to be with my virtual friends. ☺️
Honestly though some of the discussions are really interesting and a nice change from watching the tv or reading (although I enjoy those too).
But I’m beginning to think I need more hours in the day to accommodate this addiction!
Any more out there who’d like to ‘fess up?
Actually Katyj you might have a point! I’m just having a mug of tea now to fill me up a bit before bed.

I thoroughly enjoy Gransnet but limit myself to no more than an hour per day. Occasionally, I've gone over the time limit.

There are some threads I avoid but my favourite ones are the word games.

Urmstongran Thu 24-Jan-19 22:27:03

Oh Anniebach ?
Hopefully you’ll be out & about with Fred soon and going to your church and see folks?
This time of year doesn’t help either does it?
* sending you Virtual hug. x

Urmstongran Thu 24-Jan-19 22:29:38

I’ve not even peeped at the Games! Just as well Tangerine .... love the name by the way!
Seriously, perhaps that’s the way to control this obsession - time limits?

Tangerine Thu 24-Jan-19 22:34:40

It's up to you Urmstongran but I do think it's good to limit yourself timewise. Depends how busy you are.

notanan2 Thu 24-Jan-19 22:40:18

Me too
I was ill for a week over Christmas and got into the habit of GNing from under my duvet... but now that Im better the GNing hasnt decreased back to normal civilised levels LOL grin

KatyK Thu 24-Jan-19 22:54:17

When my DH sees me on my phone, he says 'What's going on on Gransnet?'

Urmstongran Thu 24-Jan-19 22:54:59

There’s no hope for us then notanan2?

Urmstongran Thu 24-Jan-19 22:56:43

Ha that made me smile KatyK!
My husband hasn’t noticed yet but they do say us addicts can be devious ...

Maggiemaybe Thu 24-Jan-19 23:15:17

Oh blimey. My name is Maggie and I’m also an addict. My phone has suddenly started to tell me bossily how long I spend online each day and it’s a bit scary. Much of it is down to GN.... Some days I wonder why and swear I won’t look at it again, but hey, that never lasts. smile

MissAdventure Thu 24-Jan-19 23:56:42

I'm unashamedly an addict.
I do bits and bobs that need doing, then look in afterwards.
I don't really have anyone else to have a reasonable conversation with as my neighbour only tells me in intricate detail about her day, every day, several times a day.
I also get filled in with everything about her 5 children and their offspring, whether I'm interested or not.
I'd far rather be here talking about spanking, bdsm and so on. blush

Maggiemaybe Fri 25-Jan-19 00:09:39

I had to google spanking paddle for clarification of the sex and lunch thread and now I’ve had to look up bdsm. At least my GN habit is broadening my horizons. grin

MissAdventure Fri 25-Jan-19 00:12:00

A bit like going to night classes from the comfort of your own home. wink

PECS Fri 25-Jan-19 07:50:07

MissA & maggiem ???
I find GN saves me having to read the papers I don't usually buy to get different perspectives on all sorts of issues!

Grannybags Fri 25-Jan-19 08:21:28

Just dropped in for my morning fix!

I don't always comment but enjoy reading most of the posts although I missed the spanking paddle thread. I'll have to look for it.... grin

Urmstongran Fri 25-Jan-19 08:22:45

Loving this ladies! Such a friendly & witty bunch. No wonder GN is now my first ‘go to’ when I get up. All the threads lined up that I’m interested in - and they are getting to be quite numerous!
Super funny MissA and Maggiemaybe you both actually made me giggle out loud - not something I usually do!
Good job I use an iPad and it doesn’t tell me how long I’m on this site. I know I’d be horrified! All the warnings out there we’ve had too about time spent by the young ‘uns looking at their phones every few minutes and I used to think ‘silly b***ers haven’t they got anything better to do with their time?’. Oof!

Anniebach Fri 25-Jan-19 08:31:53

Untill the last few years I was so active in the community and had a large extended family. Things happened and I have become isolated but I come on here and feel far less alone. And I learn so much about England ! ?
