A Halloween story...

The moon hidden by clouds

The streets were eerily empty

Footsteps echoed in the cobbled streets of the old town.

While an owl hooted in the distance

A flash of lightning briefly illuminated the dark town but then blackness fell again

The footsteps quickened

And suddenly the moon appeared from behind the clouds illuminating a tall figure wearing a dark cloak

The figure moved stealthily and seamlessly in the shadows of the tall buildings, walking carefully, but with purpose, towards

The small cottage set back from the road

The figure raised it's hand towards the knocker but as it did so the door opened with an ominous creak.

In the door way stood a small hunched figure silhouetted by the small gas light on the wall behind

I have been waiting a long time for you to come .

They hid in doorways while the rain lashed the streets and gas lights flickered in the howling wind.

He said in raspy voice .

'Oh, dear, have you got a sore throat?' asked Susie, who'd arranged this date online - she hadn't wanted to go alone to the Halloween party. 'I must say, that's a jolly good Dracula outfit! Much more authentic than the usual cheap old thing!'

“Where’s my dinner ?!” Said a small black cat sat in the window, he was dribbling eyeing the crows flapping and squawking in the creaky old oak tree.

"Dinner has just arrived" said the Dracula-clad figure!

That doesn't look very appetising", said Susie. " Anyway I'm vegetarian"

But I am partial to bowl of toadstool and green custard before I visit uncle Fester.
The little spooks are are quite excited thinking what mischief to cause on their first Hallowe'en

Scabby scabby custard,
Green snot pie,
All mixed up with a dead dog`s eye,
Slap it on a butty, nice and thick,
And wash it all down with a cup of cold sick.
