I’ve put mine on this morning. Very chilly here. It’s officially winter.☹️

BlueBelle Fri 05-Oct-18 07:22:17

Not yet. It’s cold in the evenings here too but no won’t start until the end of the month if poss.

I think it has clicked on once so far, a morning not long ago. It has been quite warm here recently, even over night. (North Hampshire). Today it is going to be 20 degrees. Apparently tomorrow it changes!

We are switching it on and off manually. It is chilly here this morning but I'd have to go downstairs to turn it on so will stay in bed reading for a while.

I thought ours was on but nothing's happened the last few days so I'm not sure if it's not cold enough or I've not set it correctly. Probably the former.

Ours has been coming off and on occasionally and I have boosted it in the evening a couple of times.

MissAdventure Fri 05-Oct-18 07:46:52

Its chilly here in the evenings, but todays forecast is 22 degrees.
I still have tomatoes growing.

Only a couple of times in the mornings when it's felt chilly. Not in the evenings yet; cooking and having dinner keeps me warm and I have a lovely cost jacket, and one of the cats on my knee!

BlueBelle Fri 05-Oct-18 07:56:00

I don’t have any central heating so it’s a gas fire for me and I always try to get through as much of October as possible as once I start switching it on my body gets too used to the lovely warmth so it’s a jumper and blanket at night so far

Just seen my fb memories and 7 years ago I was in the sea !

Not during the day as have workmen here and all windows doors are open!!

A couple of evenings we have put it on low to speed up the drying plaster.

Anniebach Fri 05-Oct-18 08:20:08

I switch mine off and on, don’t know how to set it. Not switched it on yet

Oh yes. Mornings and evenings for the last couple of weeks! I turn it down or up depending on how I feel. Why be cold?

Witzend Fri 05-Oct-18 08:24:45

We've put ours on manually for a few hours on several evenings. Don't feel the need (yet) for the rest of the day.

ginny Fri 05-Oct-18 08:32:25

Just a couple of evenings but only for an hour or so.

GrandmaMoira Fri 05-Oct-18 08:36:11

Yes, most evenings for an hour or so and it has sometimes come on in the morning briefly though the main part of the day has still been warm.

sodapop Fri 05-Oct-18 08:37:26

No, still using my fan. It's 25 degrees here in France.

merlotgran Fri 05-Oct-18 08:40:25

DH has been eyeing up a box of matches for weeks now. He's longing to light the woodburner but I won't let him. grin

harrigran Fri 05-Oct-18 08:42:45

Mine is never off, it comes on when the temperature drops below 22.2.
It is so much easier to keep a house warm when the heating is ticking over than from cold.

Katek Fri 05-Oct-18 08:50:28

We’ve been doing on/off manual overrides as it’s not been cold enough yet to have it on for long periods.

Luckygirl Fri 05-Oct-18 08:54:49

Yes - it's been on a while. OH is very thin and not very mobile, so we need to keep him warm. I long ago resigned myself to the idea that our heating would cost a fortune. It is one of the things that I use the attendance allowance for.

Greyduster Fri 05-Oct-18 09:02:50

We put it on to test one of the radiators yesterday, but turned it off after. This house is very well insulated so is not cold at the moment. We will get away with another few weeks yet I think.

henetha Fri 05-Oct-18 09:16:55

Yes. I only had it installed this summer and have been longing to use it.

Charleygirl5 Fri 05-Oct-18 09:21:37

A couple of hours most evenings for a week now but never in the mornings as it is not cold enough. I am adjusting the heating manually at present.

JessK Fri 05-Oct-18 09:41:00

Only put it on for half an hour in the evening if it gets a bit chilly. Trying to keep this up until the heating is absolutely necessary.
