Having the house cleansed spiritually

Sorry if I was vague. My relative is coming to the end of a very negative relationship and someone has offered to cleanse the house of negative vibes when his partner has left. He asked me what my thoughts were and I was uncertain.

I have no experience of this, and think it’s money for old rope really,but if the person believes they can be helped, then why not.

Not exactly unwelcoming. I suggested he changed the decor etc to make it seem different.

You can burn sage to cleanse a house. (I think!)

Plant a rowan tree in the garden!

Basically anyone can do it, it's all about intent. Sage, crystals, cleansing herbs in general may help but a positive, kindly yet focussed intention to firmly banish negative energy (or evil spirits) and bless the house with love will do the job.

If somebody believes in such a thing, it may work. Faith of one sort or another is a great comforter for many people.

It used to be the norm to have a priest bless your new home before your family moved into it.This was in the West of Scotland,I dont know if its still common but if you believe it works thats all that counts.

When my nephew ( aged 5) died, his parents were shattered. After about a month of intense mourning , they asked a priest to come and cleanse the house. The priest went from room to room, saying prayers of farewell for the little boy and sending his spirit on it's way to heaven.

We all have different beliefs, but this "spiritual farewell" was very healing and a positive thing for a grieving family. To each their own.

I like the idea of cleansing houses , it's more spiritual than a spring clean and a chuck out . I'm thinking about downsizing and would happily pay someone to cleanse my next home .

Several years after my son died ( as a child) we moved house, not far, only a few miles in the same area. We had our curate say prayers and bless each room in the old house to say goodbye and do the same in the new house. It felt to me as if we were telling our son where we were going and it helped me because the old house was the one where he had spent most of his short life. We moved from a previous house when he was 7 weeks old.

I have been in a house where one room felt awful to the point of frightening ( not one I lived in) so I do think houses can have positive and negative atmospheres. The house we moved to was brand new.

If someone believes it will work, then it probably will. It doesn't matter if others are sceptical or totally disbelieving. It's not going to cause any harm or involve vast sums of money, so that's okay.

I do know exactly what you mean about one room feeling evil. . I’ve lived in many houses, and visited many, many more, so why one room in the whole should feel like that I can’t understand logically. But it did.

Yes, smudging with sage works, plus the declutter and decorate, then get a black cat, your life will be complete. This all worked for me.

Salt is also a spiritual cleanser (and, yes it did work). Anyone who asks for money to cleanse your house isn't worth the penny you pay for them. I did it myself, all it cost was time and a few pinches of salt :-)

Lot of old mumbo jumbo as far as I’m concerned but I suppose it’s like a placebo medication. If it works for you why not? The mind is a powerful thing.
