Shocking that they would play postcodes with something as basic as post op wound care. Whatever happened to caring for someone in its purest sense.

That sounds utterly bizarre. Presumably this practice had been dealing with the referral for the op. Were they planning to get a district nurse to do the dressings or will he have to attend the surgery for this? I am wondering if it is something to do with the district nurses, as they are seconded to most practices rather than directly employed by them; it may be that when they tried to set up the dressings with the nurse, it became clear that it was not his/her catchment.

I do hope that he will recover speedily from his surgery and that his aftercare now goes without a hitch.

Thank you for your comments and good wishes. Op went well and he was discharged after about three hours. We now have to help him deal with the pain and possibly do battle tomorrow with Dr re his wound dressing!

morgana it sounds quite odd. This sort of thing usually happens when the hospital write to a GP about a patient whose address is not the same as the one registered on the GPS computer system. Has your son moved by any chance and not informed the GP? Hope he gets on ok.
