Estranged son's first child

Have you drilled down far enough to figure out why you are estranged and tried to rectify your part of the difficulty?

Any chance you could extend an olive branch? A good opportunity for you both to let bygones be bygones at least try to heal a rift or are things way beyond that?

I was estranged from my daughters life long partner for 6yrs but our eldest grandson spoke to me and told my how it hurt him to see his Dad and I not speaking although he understood why I had to cut him off. I felt I had to at least resume a cordial relationship and invited him to a big family dinner we were able to at least be in the same room together and I'm glad I did it as I could see it meant the World to my grandson.
Sorry I didn't mean to preach but to say that even the most difficult circumstances can be changed if you can just let things go. I know how difficult that can be though.

Have tried many times to reconcile but so many false dawns.

I have 2 grandsons from said daughter, and plan to treat all grandchildren alike. I have given a hand crocheted blanket (and a card) to give to my son (via my daughter) after baby is here. (Did one each for my grandsons too )
