Lyrics you hate

'Are you going to San Francisco'? by Scott McKenzie has always been a pet hate of mine. I am not sure why but the 'flower power' thing obviously passed me by.

Otherwise, I can cope with most but, back in the 'sixties, I preferred Tamla Motown and 'The Animals'.

The grammar pedant in me sees the red mist when listening to Live and Let Die - "...but if this ever changing world in which we live in ..." - sloppy work, Sir Paul!

I like the Pet Shop Boys version of You were always on my mind.
Cunco yes, I find the dreamily airy fairy San Fransisco a bit annoying as well ( and did at the time) some of us have to work you know, I felt like saying to the song.
Can't think of any other lyrics that annoy offhand, will have a think.

The words of "Stand By Your Man" by (I think) Tammy Wynette used to annoy the hell out of me.
I did stand by him, for years, but the trouble was he
kept falling down because he was always drunk!
What are we, doormats? I hate that song.

Oh yes Henetha I had forgotten that one, what a stinker it was.
Have just remembered one that I hated , can't remember the title but somebody will, it went 'hey little girl, fix your hair and your make up, he will soon be home' was it Wives and Lovers? it further went on ' day after day, there are girls at the office, and men will always be men' I know the song was of it's time, but I think that things were changing even then, and was seen by girls as very old fashioned.Grrrrrrr.t

I don't know what it's called or who sings it but that one, something like 'I've been to Paradise but I've never been to me' Yuk and also 'and Honey I miss you and I'm being good' Yuk again.

The song which endlessly repeats "up all night to get lucky" so boring. Also the Happy Song but only because on a flight back from Tenerife the man in the seat behind me insisted on playing it continuously until about 2 hours in the battery thankfully died on his phone!

A bit like Stand by your Man - My Baby Takes the Morning Train, or 9 to 5. There was a good skit on it by Pamela Stephenson and Rowan Atkinson.

It was one that I could almost manage on my guitar and the tune is quiet sweet; but the words betray a deep sense of bitterness.

'Honey I miss you and I'm being good' - that's the sort of song that was around at the time when every song just got into your brain and you can still remember all the words to this day. (And you wish you could forget)

The lyrics of Always on my Mind make me swear and want to punch the singer on the nose. Illogical I know but true.
Grammatical errors annoy me as well.
The mournful lyrics of Yesterday have me reaching for the off switch.

'Young Girl' by Gary Puckett and the Union Gap. Listening to it now - it's practically perverted. "Young girl get out of my mind. My love for you is way out of line. Better run girl, you're much too young girl."

Glad someone else feels like that about Always On My Mind! Always liked Where do you go to my lovely but will listen with a new ear now!

I agree about Live and Let Die as I always hear it as "world in which we live in" but the lyrics are really "world in which we're living" which makes more sense. It still annoys me though!

I loathe the Happy Song. It's so boring! It doesn't make me at all happy.

Rosesarered- I remember that 'Hey little girl' song - my Mum used to sing it whilst doing the housework. I've loathed it and the message in it for years! DH was playing a Ray Charles cd a couple of weeks and 'Dance Ballerina Dance' has an equally negative message: hadn't really listened to the words before.
