I am remembering how people I had never met before helped me. We went shopping in our nearest town (25 miles away) and I nipped into a shop whilst DH went to get petrol saying he would pick me up where he dropped me off. I waited and waited. It started to rain he doesn't carry mobile and my battery was flat. After an hour I went into a local florist to ask where I might get a taxi - the bus only goes twice a day. They offered to ring a taxi firm and when I told them where I wanted to go they were horrified at the cost. They could see I was upset and asked what had happened and when I told them took complete charge. Sat me down with a cup of tea whilst one of them went to the petrol station to see if anything had happened there and drove around looking for a car that matched ours with registration number. They then said they would take me home - no argument. I asked to ring home just to check and hubby answered. Said he couldn't remember where he had dropped me off so went home! That was the first proof of how badly his memory was deteriorating. I gave him specific directions and he came back for me. Has anyone else experienced this level of kindness and caring from complete strangers?
