Isn't Freecycle great, and aren't some people generous?

Evening all,

My Hudl 2 dies recently, not sure if it needed a new battery or the charger port was at fault, but anyway Tesco weren't really interested and offered me £40 as a "goodwill gesture"! Damned annoying, it was only 15 months old shock angry

Anyway, I was looking on Freecycle, and somebody had listed a Kindle, I responded pretty quickly, but got a reply that I had been pipped at the post. sad

However, the person did say that if the item wasn't collected, would I like her to get back in touch? Of course I said "yes"

Another email, and she said she had another one, if I was interested!

Collected it today, Kindle Fire HD, restored to factory settings, in box, with charger and case!

All up and running now, I am a very happy and grateful Phoenix!

PS Also got the chance to have a quick cuddle with a very elderly but lovely Basset Hound while I was there!grin

You were exceptionally lucky phoenix, that was an excellent find. Every plant I possess in this house came from a Freecycler, saved me a fortune.

Some people can be very mean- I have a fitted wardrobe which needs a bit of covering as the floorboards seem to produce a load of dust. I saw the off cuts of a nearly new carpet on Freecycle locally, went to pick it up to discover it was a bag full of rubbish. The carpet pieces may have been new sometime but not within the last 30 years,I binned the lot.

We advertised DH's violin on Freecycle, the one he learnt to play on, aged 12, and not touched in 50 years. It was quickly taken, and a few weeks later we saw it for sale among the lots at a village hall auction. We were not amused.

Yes, I think I was very lucky Charleygirl, when the poster got back in touch saying that she had another Kindle, I must admit I was suspicious, as previously somone had posted a laptop, then when I expressed interest, said they has relocated to Scotland, but I could have it if I paid the courier charges hmm but this was entirely genuine!

We disposed of a number of things on freecycle this summer and it was clear that they were taken by different sorts of people - I suspect that the dining table went to a dealer; but a printer went to a young geeky lad who was touchingly thrilled with it.

Ana when I went to collect she said that at one time all the family had one each, but the children had left home (for Uni) and didn't use them anymore, so they were just going to waste.

I've had all sorts of things from Freegle including the sofa I'm sitting on atm.
