Microfibre towels

I've had one of those travel towels for a few years now use it for beach and pool and they are invaluable space savers for sure.

I bought one on holiday last year, love it, must get some more, but keep forgetting.

Hmm. I didn't find the one I had was "highly absorbent". It ended up being used, folded, as a computer mouse mat.

They don't seem to start absorbing very well. They improve a bit once they get wet. Their main advantage is that they dry incredibly quickly when washed and spun, or wrung out hard and spread out.

I find that I don't actually dry myself with my towel, I wrap it around my body and just dab arms and legs quickly and it just sucks up the water much quicker than drying with a cotton towel. I agree they dry so quickly.

I hate them. They don't absorb very well and they've got nothing of the comfort of a proper cotton towel. They feel clammy.

Where is best to best one from, I dont seem to dry on my towel so had thought to give a microfibre one a go for after the pool and also thought it would be a good idea for packing for hols. I have seen some on ebay, but my current 'wasting money' is getting out of hand and didn't want to buy them to find they were rubbish, so any recommendations gratefully recieved!

I've got them for the dogs, who are not small and have long shaggy hair, so often need either a shower, shampoo and condition or just a rub down after wet, muddy walks. They make my life easier, take lots of water out of those wet coats, wash on a quick wash and spin, dry by the time I need them again.

I plan to buy one for my holiday, it will not have paws printed on it…...

I should have said that mine is a tea towel, haven`t tried the actual towels.

Oh no, I can't bear the feel of these towels, horrid things!

I tried one once. I didn't like it at all. I didn't find it very absorbent. I don't think I'll be buying any more.

Hate them, they feel awful, snag on my nails and any rough bits of skin, nasty!

I like dry microfibre cloths but not wet towels. Have you ever taken a dry microfibre cloth to your specs? They gleam!

Bought one from M&S to use at the gym/sauna but it's blue and I have to wash it separately as the dye still comes out of it. Feel like taking it back, even though I bought it ages ago. It is good though, and very space saving. I wish I could find a microfibre dressing gown to wear there but, being a bit prickly, the idea probably wouldn't catch on.

Indiana I totally agree. Even touching them sets my teeth on edge, it's s horrible feeling, like chalk going down a blackboard. Ugh?

Yes I have had them they are very useful as they dry quickly and are not bulky. I suspect there may be very different versions of this sort of fabric. Some being much better than others.

I have a fantastic one that I keep in the car. The children cannot seem resist water. Puddles, streams, the sea whatever and having this little magic towel to hand is ideal. DH carries one in his back pack when we are out walking . We bought ours from a reputable outdoor shop so maybe it makes all the difference .

We took one each on holiday with us. Bought them specially for beach use.

To protect the hotel's beach towel, I put the microfibre one down underneath it. It picked up loads and loads of tiny scraps of dried seaweed. I spent three afternoons picking them out with tweezers. DH put the hotel towel (conventional cotton) directly on the ground and picked it up, shook it off - no bits stuck to it at all!

My microfibre towel was essential on a yoga retreat in Majorca during a week of very hot weather. I spread it on my mat and it mopped up my sweat glow.

I bought a microfibre bath robe, beautifully fluffy and soft, put it on after a shower and when I took it off I was still wet and the fabric was covered with little drops of water. It had absorbed nothing! Anyone want a bathrobe, only used once?

Well that's saved me some money, I'm not getting any they sound rubbish!

I use the dusters, recommended for real wood furniture as don't 'pull' up the grain? Don't know about that, but they do pick up dust well and don't leave fluffy yellow bits.
