My dad bought a rotary lawnmower many years ago when rotary lawnmowers were a very new thing. One day while he was cutting the lawn the blade jammed. Typically, he lifted the mower and gave the blade a nudge with his toe, which did the trick and the blade span round before he could fully remove his foot
. The first we knew about it was when he came in the back door, laughing his head off, and showed us his shoe, with a penny (old penny) sized hole neatly sliced off over his big toe. AND a similar hole sliced in his sock. His toe, amazingly, was unmarked. No wonder he was laughing - what a lucky escape he'd had
