Oh dear. When I first moved here someone asked me the way to the Crematorium. I told him he was miles away and drew a map with the directions. He went off following my map.

The next day I drove along a road I'd never been down before and there was a big sign pointing to the Crematorium. I didnt' know that one existed. I'd sent the poor man to the wrong one. I wonder if he ever got to the funeral he intended to go to or attended someone elses.

I once went to the wrong funeral

My mother once went to the wrong funeral phoenix and we both nearly ended up at the wrong wedding!

I remember giving somebody very elaborate directions when they asked me the way. Ten minutes later I realised that everything I'd told them was wron!

I went to the wrong building for a funeral. By 15 minutes before, my DH and I were the only ones there, which we knew was odd. Especially as we had seen some relatives a few minutes before. Retraced our steps and people were waving at us towards the right building, as they knew we were about, but didnt know where we ended up to.
Just made it in time for the funeral. Everyone grinning. The deceased had a big sense of humour, so we knew he would have been smiling too!
We all blamed my mum, as she had not been clear enough in her instructions.

I was a kid when a lorry driver stopped me and a friend on a corner and asked where a certain road was - we didn't know.
As soon as he had gone, we realised that we had been standing in front of - and hiding - the sign for the road he wanted!
... still!

Someone asked me for directions to Bexleyheath Grammer when I was shopping in Welling I told them to get a certain bus to Bexleyheath and said ask there, found out school was in welling on the other side of the park oops.

Someone at the station asked which side the London train came in on? I thought he meant to London not from London and pointed to platform 1. I later heard his friends shouting across the rails to him.

I returned to work to train up my successor after several months of retirement. A smart gentleman stopped me in the corridor to ask the way to Doctors. Thinking he was feeling unwell I took him to the in-house Surgery. He politely corrected me that in fact he was the Director of the BBC programme "Doctors" which had started after I left !! I took him to the set and heard the screams of laughter as I left !!

We were in Manchester we asked a man parked up if he could direct us to a building he said turn round we felt right fools oh well

Well, there now! There's a surprise.

I have been avoiding this one all day because the title Hindsight is a Wonderful Thing sounded so sad, very Edith Piaf. Opportunities Lost; Tragic Consequences; etc, etc.

And here I am laughing my socks off. Come on, more please!

Here's one: When I was about 18 my brother in law saw a picture of the Beatles in my house. "Oh," he said, "the paper's asked me if I want to do an interview with them." I think he worked for the Daily Mirror at the time. Of course, after I had calmed down I begged to be taken with him to hold his notepad and pencil. "No," he said,they aren't really up to much, are they? Waste of time really, not like real music, just a flash in the pan, I'll get someone else to do it." He liked jazz. I should have screamed and begged and threatened but that wouldn't have been cool.
So I didn't meet them and didn't marry lovely George Harrison.

A French lorry-driver once asked my husband directions when he was out driving near our home in Swindon, close to the M4. So my DH, in his best French, gave him directions; the lorry-driver was delighted to find someone who spoke his language; DH very pleased with himself until he realised, much later, that he had sent the poor man the wrong way up the M4.

I once went to the wrong funeral too. I wondered why I didn't recognise anyone! I just kept smiling sympathetically at people and then stayed on in the crematorium for the right one.

On the subject of funerals- we went to my uncle's funeral at the crematorium. It all went as well as could be expected until the final hymn. We sang " Colours of Day" . We were all fine until DH nudged me when it got to the chorus and then we couldn't sing for giggling. ( you will have to sing it through until the chorus to see the joke!)

We were with a group of people with learning difficulties on holiday in France - a long story! We had travelled all day to get to our destination, it was dark and we were really tired. The coach driver, a lovely man had persuaded two young ladies in a mini to show us the way to the street, but we could not see the numbers, however, there was a car parked at the side of the road with occupants, and my husband knocked on the window, opened the door, and out fell two very irate people with very little clothing left on. The house was opposite the coach.
