Hermes courier service

Because of an error on some sat nav maps, we often get parcels etc. left for a house in another road. We get this so often that I have the phone number of the person.

I've had many parcels delivered to my home by Hermes for family members who are out at work all day. I've never had a problem, touch wood, because they leave them with a neighbour if I'm out and put a card through my door.

Yes! Not Hermes but Yodel.

I've done a fair bit of research into this whole phenomena of disappearring porches .

My daughter happens to a Yodel delivery driver and she says that their machines that they get you to sign pinpoint the drivers actual destination at time of signing so I presume Hermes do too.

That would clearly identify where your delivery driver was ( I.e sat at home opening people's parcels ).

So I'd chase Hermes up .

We and our neighbour have frequent deliveries from Hermes with absolutely no problems. There is someone in our house 99% of the time and our neighbours have a note on their porch door to deliver to us if they are not in. It works every time. I think it is down to the individual and not the company.

I find both Hermes and Yodel equally poor and unreliable. Leaving boxes marked as containing books out in the rain, or sealing them into my recycling box so that if I hadn't noticed they would have been off to the tip, dropping boxes marked "glass - handle with care" and In one case being abusive and shoving me when I complained about the poor condition of a parcel on its arrival - not a pleasant experience for a small, elderly lady, and I reported it to the senders.

My Hermes delivery lady is absolutely fantastic. A pleasure to see.

I think Hermes is great, but Yodel is dreadful.

My Hermes delivery man is wonderful. We are almost on first name terms now! He knows my 'safe place' to leave my packages in when I'm out.

I do agree though that it's down to the driver.

To update - my parcel is here! There was a knock at the door this morning and a very kind person handed it over having found it in their porch at ten o clock last night. They live two miles away in a street who's name is nothing like mine. Thanks to all who replied.

I think it's up to the individual who is the delivery person. We have had two different ones and both have been very efficient. I've never had a parcel go astray.

I agree it's down to the driver, I once commented to a driver (not my regular one) that it would be better to use the door knocker knocker rather than bang on the glass of the door, easier for me to hear and safer. He refused to hand over my parcel and got back in his car and drove off with it !
All others have been fine but I have friends who can relate some bad experiences.

I have frequent deliveries from Hermes and never had a problem although once he'd put the parcel in the wheelie bin which could have been a disaster. The regular guy was on holiday recently and his replacement obviously wasn't as efficient as parcels didn't arrive as quickly as they normally do. Glad you finally got your wool anyway

Although my Hermes deliveries do arrive on time (mostly) the driver seems incapable of ringing the bell or using the door knocker. Every time I have a delivery I check the tracking, which tells me it has been delivered and I find the parcel on the floor outside my door! The last delivery was damaged because it was left in the rain.

My Hermes man is lovely and very obliging - as I try to be by taking in neighbours' parcels if they are out. I think it pays to develop a friendly relationship with all the delivery people who bring things to the door!

I was in my daughter's house when she had a delivery and the doorbell did not go. My husband was in the garden playing football with my grandson when the parcel was thrown over a high fence, fortunately not hitting anyone. It was a pair of shoes so not breakable but the driver can not have been sure about that.

Two excellent Hermes deliver drivers here.

Our Hermes man is very nice and the deliveries are on time and intact. no complaints from me. Makes a change I hear you cry.

We have a good Hermes driver here and have had no problems with any packages delivered with them. I even came home one day to find the had left my package inside the car!!! Not sure why they even tried the car door, but thankfully all was safe.

Have been using Hermes for all my parcel deliveries for over a year now. So much cheaper than the Post Office. Always use the 3-5 day delivery service and the parcels always arrive on time ~ sometimes within 2 days. Excellent service. Cannot fault them at all. Thankfully the recipients have had no problems either.

Hermes seem ok, Yodel are a nightmare. I've tracked parcels that apparently have been delivered but goodness knows where! No notes left through the door and belligerent response when I've had to contact them. The latest was watching the Yodel driver hurl my package from his driver's seat onto the front garden and driving off ?. Presumably because it was raining he didn't want to get wet? And then I received an email saying it had been signed for and safely delivered....

Yes, I have had this experience! Our custom made curtains were overdue and when I checked I was told rudely that I had got them (What??) The driver had evidently brought them down the side of the house and put the parcel over the gate. Interesting, as we don't have a side way or a gate. Finally got the curtains replaced, then had a contact from a neighbour way up the road who had got back from a month in America...you've guessed it. A soggy cardboard box with ruined curtains had greeted him on his return. Thank you, courier.

It infuriates me when you are waiting for a delivery that seems a no-show only to put some paper/cardboard in the recycling bin before they are due to find the parcel there. What if I didn't open the bin !
