Hermes courier service

I do not know if it was Hermes but I was waiting for as computer to be delivered. I was home all day. Heard nothing but found a note at 4 pm saying that they had been unable to deliver it and it would be returned to sender.

I looked up the local office on the internet. On trip adviser there were dreadful comments about the carrier. The moment husband came home I sent him with the note to the local office which closed at 5.30. He got there in time and they had the parcel!!!

Hermes managed to break a picture that I sent to an eBay customer and refused to pay compensation!

UPS efficiently delivered my replacement birthday present. I'm still wondering where the other box of interestingly flavoured T2 teas ended up.

Always had good service from Hermes.

Hermes OK; Yodel awful - their delivery man rings, then by the time my rheumaticky legs make it to the door he's driven off with my parcel.

I have had parcels thrown over a tall garden gate into the back garden, some left behind dustbins in the rain when I was away for a few days( a Mother's day gift which was completely ruined) and some left in the recycling bin. I would expect them to try again if I was not in, not just leave it, but it never happens. This has mostly been from Yodel deliveries and if a card is left there is never any name or contact number given. I think this is appalling when you have paid for delivery to an address.

I had a delivery due last Saturday. Got the email to say it had been delivered to the door. It was 8.15am, I was in and my grandson was up. Didn't hear a knock, checked the front door, no parcel. Found it behind the dustbin in the back. At least it was dry.

Never had a problem with Hermes. Whenever I order anything I always leave the instruction to leave parcel in porch if I am out, and the courier always does.

Our Hermes Courier is lovely, very obliging and knows where to leave parcels if we are out. He ALWAYS puts a card through the door telling us where the parcel is.

Leemw. Surely that was assault?
Yodel damaged my Mothering Sunday plants and now UPS have lost my birthday present! Great service, guys!

Ceesnan - we had a similar issue with Hermes - they had "delivered" a parcel by placing it under a shrub near a locked side gate to the garden - it wasn't discovered until the rain stopped on a Sunday afternoon, and I was doing some gardening in that area.

Wouldn't use them, and I seem to recall a delivery mechanism by one of the other couriers being subject a TV news story, where they had 'launched' the parcel towards an upstairs window, which was ajar!

The only service I have used frequently is Parcel Force, and TNT - both being ex national post/mail services.

I believe the drivers for many of these 'couriers' are self-employed, which is a shame that the likes of Hermes, Yodel etc., don't consider they are worthy of taking on as employees and running the business overall.

No complaints from me regarding Hermes. One young lady became a friend and. Would come in for a cup of tea. Unfortunately for me she went to work in the office. New couriers are still good. I believe they are very poorly paid per delivery.

Hermes great, Yodel not so good. My Yodel driver always arrives after 9.p.m. My daughter sent a gift for Mothers day but was disappointed when I said it hadn't arrived. She checked on line and it said it had been delivered 'through the letterbox' the night before at 10.25 p.m. As it was a bottle of champagne and chocolates we knew this was impossible. I went out to a redundant outside letter box (the postie opens the back door and puts the mail on the bench) and there was a card saying it had been left in the recycling box. I was pleased that it was there, but would never have found it. I know they are on a tight schedule and he was obviously working very late but with the cost of deliveries surely a better service should be available.

I had a parcel containing a designer jacket and clutch bag forced through my letterbox by Hermes. Complained on Twitter- had an apology from Hermes and a gift voucher and apology from the sender. I find using Twitter gets the quickest results

I agree that Yodel are awful. However Hermes is great and I ve got to know the driver very well from taking in parcels for all of my neighbours, It's quite a treat to get one for me!

Yes - unfortunately! I ordered special presents from White Company for my DiL and new grandson - to take with me to Thailand which is where they live.
Was told by White Company that the parcel would be with me by Saturday - no show, so I emailed them and got the reply that the parcel had been delivered. I asked them to trace it. On Tuesday afternoon I had a call from White Company to say that the parcel HAD been delivered on Saturday and left in the re-cycling bin outside my back door. Odd, I said, as the back gate is bolted and so the courier had no access to the bins - but as it was Tuesday by the time I was given this (mis)information the bins had been emptied that very morning!
In the end White Company replaced all the items in the package - with very good grace and profuse apologies ( they really are a super company to deal with) - but it was all very stressful and the replacement parcel arrived only 24 hours before I left. I spoke to the usual Hermes courier and he said that on that particular day there was a replacement driver, but that he would report it back to the depot!
Avoid Hermes at all costs!

Angela and all others who have made similar comments that very thing happened to me. We had ordered a pair of Kickers for our grandson. It was a bank holiday weekend and they were delivered on the Saturday afternoon. The delivery driver had left a card but we have a outside postbox so...being a bank holiday with no post till the Tuesday it was never checked...unfortunately neither was the recycling bin containing said pair of shoes. Bin went out for Monday collection and shoes were presumably recycled! I did get a refund eventually from the parcel company...DPD I think...but a brand new pair of shoes. Ah well!
Incidentally we do have a very nice Hermes courier and have never had any problems

Not all Hermes couriers are conscientious .

I once ordered a leaf blower and it was delivered to a similar address which was about two miles away.
I had to try and track it down myself.
When I eventually got there, the woman said that her neighbour had signed for it and there it was sitting in her hallway.
No doubt waiting to see if I claimed it.

The whole thing was stressful.

But I have had other deliveries from Hermes which have been ok.

I got the same message left in porch, card left, no card no parcel got an email to say deliverd though lol, I rang the firm I had ordered from, oh yes they had delivered but not to me, heaven knows where though,. I am quite a distance from the lane & all delivery people know exactly where to leave things if I am not there, I get a lot of parcels as my daughter has her own business, she is rarely at her business unit, being out on the road either selling or delivering so the couriers bring her parcels here, I asked was it a new delivery man & got told no same one as usual, I asked him when he eventually delivered my parcel, he said I didn't deliver here yesterday I didn't have a parcel for you

I have come to the conclusion that any delivery service is only as good as the driver in your area. Our Hermes man is great, I do most of my shopping online as we live out in the sticks. He goes to great lengths to leave parcels exactly where we want them - as does the DPS driver. He is happy and cheery and always smiling. I can almost forgive him the heavy metal thumping out at full volume as he always leaves his van door open.

Our problems only come around Christmas and strangely, Easter - I hadn't realised that gift-giving at Easter had reached some mammoth proportions until the delivery men weren't my normal ones, were in a hurry and looked harassed.

I had a parcel delivered from M&S (think it was by Royal Mail). There was a card through the door to say it had been left in a safe place. I searched high and low and couldn't find it so in the end I rang M&S and they sent out replacements for all the items. Needless to say I then found the parcel - in a locked shed (!) pushed down behind the lawnmower. The problem came when I tried to return the replacement items - they couldn't cope with accepting a return which didn't need a refund.

I've had couriers who've rung the bell and vanished before I'm even out of my seat, which is only about six feet from the door. That said, they are paid per package - and a pitiful amount at that.

I have had problems with hermes (no parcel despite them saying it was delivered ) yodel (who left a parcel in a communal stair with neither the front or back door being lockable ) which then went missing, and Amazon who also claim to have delivered & that I have signed for it!! It puts me off ordering online now! ?

Hermes I have found to be really unprofessional. I enter a lot of competitions and sometimes prizes arrive without one knowing who they are from. I had a card through the door from Hermes to say that they had attempted to deliver something but as I was out would try on two more occasions and then return to sender if I couldn't take delivery.
The card clearly stated that the next day and the following one would be the days that they would attempt redelivery. Well, the next day I knew that I couldn't be in, but made sure that the third day I stayed put and within earshot of the front door. Nothing!
I called the number on the card and they couldn't have been less interested, so I asked for a head office number - they gave me the number of the other Hermes! The designer brand! So did my parcel get returned to the sender? What was it? Who sent it? Did they keep it? I'll never know.

It infuriates me when you are waiting for a delivery that seems a no-show only to put some paper/cardboard in the recycling bin before they are due to find the parcel there. What if I didn't open the bin !
