Sorry if I'm mistaken starting this thread, Good Morning all, storm Katie is troubling a lot of the country but we are lucky in Lancashire, only sunshine and showers and light winds.
Big family gathering for me today.

Morning all. Calm now here in Cornwall after a wild night with lots of short power breaks and very little sleep. I hope everyone is safe as Katie passes through.

Mick is a way for a few days, Nana3 - it's very odd, isn't it!

It's pickling down here in North Leicestershire. We still have DD2 and family here so I think it's a jigsaw day!

Enjoy your Mondays everyone sunshine

Good morning all.
Wet but not windy here in Stockport. Yesterday we had several seasons in one day. Sun ,hail, thunder and lightening and very windy.
Must get moving today as family coming on Wed and I have done nothing yet to prepare.

Morning all
What a night !
The howling wind kept me awake for half of it. Woke to find a length of guttering on the lawn, yes it is ours tbusad.
Still very windy and rain on and off. I don't think I'll be leaving the house!

Good morning!
After a lovely sunny sunshine Easter Sunday it is blowing a hooley here. Just glad nobody here is planning to be out and about and we had our family get together yesterday. Even Grace who seems exhausted from having a doggy visitor has shown little interest in "out"?

If you are travelling -safe journeys!

Good morning from Colchester. Howling wind and rain overnight but worse now. Only damage was to already broken bird box and a bucket in the middle of the lawn.
Worried about DH who has been in a tent all weekend and is due home any minute. Hope he's taken refuge in the café. No phone signal and he wouldn't think to tell me he's ok. He's of the no news is good news brigade. He won't be a happy bunny when he does get home though.
Needless to say that we aren't going anywhere today.

LullyDully Mon 28-Mar-16 07:58:36

Part of our fence is down.

Pittcity Mon 28-Mar-16 07:59:45

He's home and moaning!

Morning all,

It's deceptively lovely here in Devon. I say deceptively because heavy rain is forecast from midday on, so I'm not falling for these teasy, sunny, blue skies.

Hoping for a lazy day today, doing just what I want to do (we shall see....)

Enjoy the Bank Holiday folks.

Gagagran Mon 28-Mar-16 08:04:58

Wow! What a very noisy, windy night we had - and still much the same. A fair number of twigs and sticks are on the lawn and the patio chairs have blown over.

We are having a quiet day and "eating up" after yesterday's family lunch. Why can I never estimate the amounts so we don't have left-overs? I think it's from my Mum who always said that it was better to have too much than too little. I'd like it to be just right!

Stansgran Mon 28-Mar-16 08:13:45

Grey grey skies here. Still in bed or rather went back with a second cup of tea and a burst of electric blanket. No visitors and not even a peep of a happy Easter from the DDs. Am I letting it get me down? No news is good news as someone's DH says.

NanaandGrampy Mon 28-Mar-16 08:29:15

Morning !

Its blowing a good 'un here in our part of Essex. Next door neighbours erected a steel and fabric gazebo on Good Friday - I wonder where the roof is now :-)

Happy Easter Monday!

Good morning everyone.
No wind or rain here, Katie seems to have passed us by in Tynedale. High cloud, with the sun trying to break through just now. I have some washing to do today, otherwise just relaxing.
Have a good day everyone.

Rain but no gales in this part if Wales - yet

Craftycat Mon 28-Mar-16 08:52:36

Well in Surrey we had torrential rain & howling winds all night. I believe Gatwick was closed for some time. It has stopped raining now but the trees at end of garden are blowing horizontally at the top. We are hoping they come down as they are Leylandii & belong to a neighbour who will not remove them & they keep all light out of bottom of our garden.
We don't get the worst of UK weather in SE but when we do get it it tends to be severe. I well recall the hurricane in 1980s.

Lilyflower Mon 28-Mar-16 08:53:07

Here on the Devon coast it often blows long and loudly but last night's storm was something else! Wuthering depths!

Tessa101 Mon 28-Mar-16 08:54:30

Good morning from Durham, wet and windy most of the night.Pouring down now, we are on our way back to Hertfordshire shortly, reports say A1 is bad. So slow careful journey is ahead. Enjoy rest of Easter.

Well it was raining and blowing here in Staffs but just had a call from elder DD who had taken their caravan to Dorset. She said it was a terrible night. They had emptied the awning but at about midnight the poles started to give so they struggled to pack it up. Campers on the site have had a bad night-why ever did they stay when such a storm was forecast? Do you think common sense is in short supply these days?
Also heard from a friend inBexhill; she says it's still blowing a hooley there so she's staying in catching up on recorded tv progs.

Good morning from Hertfordshire. Starting to calm down now but it's been very wild here. I managed to sleep through it but I was sitting up in bed at around 8am when I heard that dreaded drip drip sound. Water was trickling down the wall and onto the headboard. I have yet to investigate but I think there is an external chimney breast going up from a fireplace there used to be in the dining room below the bedroom. I will need to get someone in I expect. Never ending expense!

I may be tempting fate by saying this but Bamburgh seems to have a microclimate and bad weather seems to pass us by. Bit grey and damp this morning but didn't hear any strong wins in the night....although, supposedly I was snoring so loud it would have drowned it out.....

Mrsdof Mon 28-Mar-16 09:04:31

Good morning from Kent. Very mixed weather this morning, pretty wet and windy overnight, and still windy now but not so bad. Found a worm on the back door mat this morning think it must have blown in through the brushes on the draught excluder, obviously not working very well in keeping out draughts! grin. We have decided a day in Bluewater is called for, no doubt, alongside thousands of others. Enjoy the rest of your Easter everyone. flowers

Mrsdof Mon 28-Mar-16 09:06:50

I think gransnet need to update their clocks. In case they have forgotten the clocks went forward 1hour yesterday morning wink

Chicklette Mon 28-Mar-16 09:09:37

Shoeburyness where I live was mentioned on the BBC as having the strongest winds. I slept badly because it was so loud and got up this morning to find our row of houses now has one large open plan garden! It's not the first time we've had to replace the fences as it's always windy here. We get the wind straight from the sea. I was planning to ride my bike along the seafront this morning to meet friends for brunch, but I think we'll be sader in the car! Hopefully the wind will die down soon so we can start to repair everything

ClareWhittam Mon 28-Mar-16 09:11:20

Grey clouds steaming across the sky but no rain yet here in Cheadle Hulme near Stockport. (hello annsixty)
Had an amazing flash storm yesterday..I went out and commanded the heavens lol. Hope everyone in caravans and tents down south are safe! xx
