France has found a brilliant solution: it's introduced a law forcing manufacturers to tell customers how long their appliances will last. If we can get Britain to do the same, we can strike a big blow for customers and the planet against corporate profiteering.
Message for David Cameron:
David Cameron: make manufacturers tell us how long their appliances are designed to last.
"Planned obsolescence" is the deliberate design of products to limit their lifespans so we have to replace them more often. It rips off the customer and creates mountains of waste. And it's been going on for decades.
My latest grumble....I bought a greenhouse and in 4 years the plastic roof went in holes....the advertised replacement panels 'not available'. (Waltons, by the way.)
Today the High Court has agreed that children can be given puberty blockers.
