I enjoy salt and vinegar crisps in a sandwich-on their own and preferably in a bread roll.

My dad loved peanut butter and lettuce sarnies.
I once found mum tucking into an individual jelly pot topped with cream cheese ?
She was living with dementia at the time.

Nothing wrong with a crisp sarni or a banana one but not together thankyou.

My friend popped over to drop something off. She said she found her husband poking around in the fridge making a sandwich of cheese, sausage and...blueberry jam. Plain wrong

Toast and marmalade with bits of cheddar cheese on top of it.

My mother, a Yorkshire farmer's daughter, used to make delicious apple pasties with cheddar grated on top. She would also eat cheese with Christmas cake, which is quite common I think.

Cheese on toast, grilled, then topped with sliced pickled beetroot. Yummy, and my lunch of choice when on my own. DS2 loves cheese sandwiches with golden syrup

I like ham and mustard in a fruit teacake. Cheese and crisps in a nice fresh roll. Yummy.

I think cheese goes well with anything fruity really. I love cheese and jam - any kind.

Otherwise, no weird combos here - just weird times ... I ALWAYS have chocolate, port and cherry trifle for breakfast on Boxing Day ... always make one for the 25th, but usually ends up being decorative then as we are all groaning after the big dinner, so I tuck into it the next morning. This is a habit my daughter has also now adopted - after being disparaging for years .

However, we have always had Christmases at home up until the last one when we went to her home on Boxing Day ... I took a mini trifle up with me. I will have to remember if I am driving in years to come that it is quite alcoholic!!!

I see that Asda do a chocolate and beetroot cake, sounds very weird.
Many years ago, we were visiting friends, and she produced a new cookery book that she`d just been given, called Unusual recipes. She made one for supper, Apple, egg and onion, all fried up together! The onion rings are fried till soft, then sliced apple is added, followed by the egg. We struggled to eat it, said it was delicious, but I`m glad she never made it for us again, it was horrible!

My Mum used to make currant pasties with fresh garden mint in them for my Dad who loved them. Not my taste but I like Marmite and cucumber sandwiches and also jam on cream crackers with a slice of strong cheddar on top. Each to her own says I!

I used to like Rich Tea biscuits (ie sweet) spread with Marmite - but then I would like marmite and lettuce sandwich too. ?

My sister loved fried bacon and fried banana sandwiches.
My choice is cream cheese and sweet pickled cucumber sandwiches.

I agree with Shysal about cheese with Christmas cake or apple pie. I'm also from Yorkshire farming stock. Do people from other areas eat cheese in this way?

Banana, cream cheese and honey, that was one of my favourite combinations that a sandwich shop in Baker Street produced when I first worked in London, I still like it today, I thought it was quite unusual at the time. I also like a sweet side such as mango chutney with curry, not that unusual I know. Roast pork is always incomplete with out apple sauce. A sweet chutney or sweet sauce enhances a lot of savoury dishes IMO. Of late I love salted caramel I think they make a great combination.

Banana and marmite sandwich, or on hot toast. The marmite has to be mashed onto the bread, not sliced !

Yes cheese and Christmas cake is a family tradition in our house rubysong - my family are from up north, cheese with apple pie is quite common round these parts too (I live in Yorkshire now). I've just been talking to my hairdresser today and she has Weetabix for breakfast - with water I love sweet and salty together so marmite and nutella on toast sounds pretty good to me
