I'm never babysitting again!

Oh, that brought back memories of a couple of our cats, kitty! They do seem to think they can 'dig' themselves out, don't they?

We had a cat that did that too ,sounds like you had a scare. Hope the children are tucked up fast asleep.

Oh Kitty nightmare! The first time they had a sleepover I lay rigid all night!!

I've got a friend who talks in abbreviations - she would be saying "What an N-MARE"!

When I read about the "little black face" I thought one of the children had got into the shoe polish

I'd also be a gibbering wreck.

Or even a jibbering one.

I would be a wreck too kitty, the thought of a cat locked in a room with a sleeping child

I shouldn't laugh, but I did giggle at the pictures in my mind of what you just went through trying to get the door open - no wonder you're so shaken! Your DGC will probably think what happened whilst they slept is funny and you've made a memory to laugh about in years to come! You'll both probably sleep for a week when they're gone!

I once had to get the fire brigade to release my DGD from a bedroom so I know exactly how you feel kitty. They had to get in through a velux window. It's a long story, I'll tell it one day.

Daughter #1 flew to Australia recently with her husband, who was on business, taking #2 grandchild, 6 months old. They were lent a flat and she was left while husband went to a thing. She went out of the flat to a taxi and the door closed, with granddaughter inside. The keys were there too. They had to call the fire brigade to get back in.

cats are notorious for ruining carpets, over the last 10 years I have had 4 and each room has a torn carpet near the door. If you shut them in a room accidentally they dig their way out but the problem is that you cant always see a cat, I now ban all cats from upstairs, they can sleep on the stairs and downstairs and I have to keep all my downstairs doors open so they can go to and fro. what a nightmare , still I love my pussies.

I also slept very little the first time DGD slept over but I now look forward to it as she is older and big enough to call out if she needs anything.

We have a cat that has ruined our sofa and chairs by plucking it. She has also ruined the blinds because she sits on them to look out the window.

My scary babysitting story was when my granddaughter was about nine months old. I put her in her highchair and she started crying. I had put both legs down one side! I couldn't pull her back out and was really shaking. Then I remembered my daughter would remove the tray to clean it. I fiddled about and the tray came off, releasing poor little mite. I don't think she was really hurt, but she knew I'd done something wrong.

Here's me thinking only dogs do that kind of thing!

I guess the fire brigade get called out a lot for rescues like this. Bless. -`ღ´-

We went to stay with daughter to look after first baby whilst she went back to work and until baby started pre-school. Failed to factor in huge anxieties of looking after someone else's child - far greater than caring for our own. Lots of frights along the way.

Also spent 3 years catching colds etc grand baby brought back from nursery.

Now back home with many happy memories of the past 3 years.

No regrets.
