Sunday started off fine. Weather great and we were off to Church, DH to push the buttons for the AV, followed by a Harvest Lunch, which was lovely. Time to go home, quick panic as I can't find the car keys. Handbag emptied, turned upside down and shaken three times, still no keys. A friend gave us a lift home to retrieve the spare keys, then we drove back to town and got the car home. I phoned the police, saying " I've lost my car keys" reply, "no you haven't" Me, "yes I have". The young officer told me that he knew who I was, where I lived etc, etc. I had evidently left the keys in the car, after locking it, and a passing Good Samaritan had taken them and posted them through the letter box of the police station, and someone would be in touch soon. A phone call came through and I was told I could go to the station and pick up my keys. Luckily DD and SIL were visiting and took me to town for the keys. Phew, relief and gratitude to the stranger. I asked if the police knew of him/her, so that I could thank them, but the finder was anonymous!
So, there are good, kind folk about, who didn't take advantage of a granny, and drive away with her beloved car. Thank you if you happen to read this. I will put a thank you in the local newspaper, as that's all I can do
Cookery books and other books - are you keeping them ?
