Windows 10

Haven't downloaded it yet; what's the problem?

My OH subscribes to Computer Active and is also on various forums related to computers, and the list of problems that people have had is endless. Where to start is the question....! OH is waiting for teething troubles to be resolved before downloading.

They all sound a total pain to me; and the solutions are fine for geeks, but what about people who just want to USE their computer and have no desire to tinker with it?

It's like buying a car and loads of bits don't work and you have to look up solutions and try and get them sorted. Crazy!

It took me 13 hr to download and install it. I had been assured from micro soft that my computer was perfect for downloading, it being a touch screen with lots of memory in. it was a 2712.6 mb download so quite big. Towards the end of the download I kept getting a message saying "windows 10 is tweaking the download". I had saved all my files, just as well as they had all gone, The first problem was , it was an American keyboard, so I had to change over to UK, after I had put my basic necessaries in, like email account. I switched off only to find when I switched back on every thing I had put in had gone, this happened every time I put stuff in, it was gone.
I contacted Microsoft telling them what was happening, they were so busy, advisers talking to 2 or 3 people simultaneously giving the wrong advice to the wrong ones, then apologising for doing so, after 2 days I decided to take the option of having 1 month to go back to windows 7, so far so good, back on windows 7 I lost all back up facility and other things which were irretrievable, so as a last resort, I took my computer back to factory state. I then had 178 updates to install, so I would personally not recommend downloading Windows 10

Exactly newist - just the sort of things that are being talked about on the forums. I just don't know how they get away with it - it is not fit for purpose and is causing people so much unnecessary aggro.

I have just bought a new laptop on Saturday from Currys PC World who loaded Windows 10 onto it. Up to now I haven't found any problems other than it seems a bit strange to use after having Windows 7 which I loved. I am copying the link however, it may come in useful in the future who knows!

I think that if you start with W 10 from scratch, then the problems are less. It is people who are downloading it after having accumulated much material in a previous system who seem to be having trouble.
