My autistic DGS2 has a speech delay and is very difficult to understand, but when he wraps his arms around me and gives me a big hug is just the best feeling.

My granddaughter (who was 14 at the time) said to me 'nan you are the nicest person I know' - best not tell her mum!

DS1, as a toddler, had a bad cough and was keeping himself and his parents awake all night. In an interval between coughts, he looked up at me and said, "My precious mummy". How could I ever forget that? He's 44 now, a dad himself and still a very precious son.

My 16 month old GS switches on the computer and shouts "Anmaa" when he wants to talk to me and then tries to give me things through the screen and kisses me through the screen. When his parents tell him to say goodbye his face changes and he puts on his stubborn look and simply refuses. Wonderful as they live abroad and we don't seem them that often.
