I've never really noticed before, but you're right!

The Queen's Shoes

Maybe her feet are getting a bit old and knobbly and she doesn't want the bother of wearing new shoes that will be uncomfortable - even the elves and fairies can't always make new shoes that fit perfectly.

I can't imagine Her Maj having nobbly feet - she must have had hand made shoes all her life and, unlike some of us, has never shoved her feet into shoes that are fashionable but excruciating!

Apparently HM has shoes properly made and has a member of staff same shoe fit to wear them in.

Quite right to wear shoes she can be confident in. Not many women of her age will be walking and standing around as she still does. Comfy feet are crucial.

You can get knobbly feet from arthritis however careful you are with your choice of footwear.
At her age she is lucky not to be creaking more with arthritis. She clearly has the right genes.
Sensible shoes yes but she could wear colours in the same design.

I don't expect she wears them with a ball gown! Probably trainers like a lot of us older women. You can't see them under a long skirt. I've seen pictures of her in riding boots, as well. I don't think, if you have handmade shoes, you need to 'wear them in'. And, just to be difficult, the shoes in the Daily Mail pictures aren't all the same! The elves and the shoemaker - my DS loved that story, Teetime!

I think I read somewhere that many years ago she found the perfect shoe style and height for standing around and decided to stick to it. Same goes for the bag. It's comfortable to carry.

I have never noticed what colour shoes she wears.Surely she wears navy now and then at the very least!?

I think it spoils her outfits too. How difficult would it be to make the same shoes in cream or navy or brown? She could have even have the soles in red if she wanted to impress!

Or diamonds on the soles of her shoes?

If you were Queen you could choose your own shoes. Can't think of any other reason why you couldn't be Queen.

Looking back through the archives ( someone has to do it) I find that in June
1957 the Queen wore a beautiful pair of white sling back stilettos for the annual judging of stiff upper lips in Margate.

The Queen’s selection includes plain black leather, black patent, white leather and beige leather, and three designs of evening shoe in satin, silver and gold.
