The most embarrasing moment of my life.......

.......happened last night. And I don't think I'll ever live it down. Seriously!

I can see that it was hilarious to those who witnessed it and can manage to laugh about it to a point, but really I just feel totally humiliated. It was in front of a large crowd of work colleagues on a celebration night out.

Please someone tell me that I'll get over it. At this pont in time I am cringing every 15 seconds and thinking of emigrating so I don't have to face them again.

HELP!

Well, come on then - what happened? grin

Ana Sun 31-May-15 18:21:17

Yes, we can't possibly reassure you (or otherwise!) without knowing the details...grin

Knickers fell down? Teeth fell out? Farted in front of the boss? Came on to a gay colleague? Dropped an ice cream down your cleavage? Sneezed over someone's ice cream? Got caught picking your nose? Used the wrong knife?

Oh - come one! - or we will find worse things to dream up!

Wow....what a tease!

downtoearth Sun 31-May-15 18:31:01

got totally plastered and danced on the table ....wore white jeans and did a bottom cough and followed thru.....feel your pain have done both blush

Just laugh with them, hopefully they'll have all been reasonably inebriated and won't remember anyway!

janerowena Sun 31-May-15 18:34:58

Loo roll stuck in back of skirt? Skirt caught in knickers? Wig fell off? Fall over and expose your underwear?

My bikini fell off when I was a teenager, at a pool surrounded by frenchmen. It doesn't come much more embarrassing than that, and I had another two weeks of holiday to go! I just pretended it never happened, and moved on. Hopefully someone else will do something even worse, and whatever you did will become old hat.

Just remember, some people will pay money to have publicity of any kind! and if you remain a good sport about it and laugh it off, it will be forgotten far more quickly.

I was wearing a dress with a low-ish neckline so used gel inserts (aka chicken fillets) to enhance my meagre cleavage.

On the dance floor, one dropped out of my dress and skidded towards my husband. I picked it up quickly but d aren't put it back so handed it to him to put in his pocket (?)

Then the other one fell out. I bent to pick it up, but lost my balance and landed on my bottom. A drunk man behind me thought I was doing that "ooops upside your head " dance where ever one sits on the floor behind each other so he joined me.
I got upand ran off and got hubby to take me home.

I haven't made this up but it is that ridiculous that it sounds like I did. I am dying from shame.

etheltbags1 Sun 31-May-15 18:45:40

It doesn't sound so bad, silly, as someone else said the others would have all been drinking and would have never thought another thing about it. I would be careful of chicken fillets though in future.

Ana Sun 31-May-15 18:48:49

Or only go for the very sedate type of dance...

Sillyoldbird Sun 31-May-15 18:50:23

I will NEVER wear them again!

And I'm never going to dance again (embarrassed feet have got no rhythm)blush

Ana Sun 31-May-15 18:54:22

grin

Don't be a sillyoldbird! You'll get over it - far worse things have happened me other people wink

Sillyoldbird Sun 31-May-15 19:01:47

I take myself far too seriously I think. And I'm neurotic at the best of times.

It would make me feel better if everyone told me theirs. [Wink]

loopylou Sun 31-May-15 19:03:28

Crikey, nowhere near as cringe-making as I'd thought, 'spect hardly anyone noticed anyway! And your drunk man certainly won't remember either!

Don't mention it and laugh if anyone else does grin

Oh dear. I agree that that was probably funny to some peole who were watching, but not so funny at all in front of a large group of work colleagues.

The only consolation I can think of is that we all have very awkward times, from time to time.

Sillyoldbird Sun 31-May-15 19:07:26

Really? ????????

I suspect you're just being kind - thank you. flowers

soontobe Sun 31-May-15 19:08:37

I cant remember mine, but my husband had a post it note stuck to his back by a kid, and walked around in a public place with it on, for a number of hours without knowing about it. He was not amused!

Ana Sun 31-May-15 19:08:41

You're not doing research for a book or something, are you? grin

Ana Sun 31-May-15 19:09:09

(not you, stb)

Sillyoldbird Sun 31-May-15 19:12:12

No! Absolutely not.

I am just so embarrassed and need sympathetic ears. Oh god what am I going to do next week?

Sillyoldbird Sun 31-May-15 19:19:20

In fact, so desperate was I for reassurance, I re-registered as i couldn't remember my Gransnet login.

I only come on here from time to time and usually when I'm upset about something. There's always good advice, lovely people and a bit og humour. Just what I needed

soontobe Sun 31-May-15 19:23:59

Have you a sympathetic colleague that doesnt stray far from your side for a couple of days?

Sillyoldbird Sun 31-May-15 19:30:30

The people who were there don't work in my office so I don't have to see them much. I'very known them a long time though and they can be quite bitchy and gossip a lot. They are men, by the way. Makes it worse as their wives were there and I don't know them.

I am agonising about who saw what and keep trying to convince myself no one saw anything. I ran off so quick that I'm not sure what the reaction was
