Morning routine
(41 Posts)I've often wondered how other people start the day and what Gransnetters are doing. I'm a creature of habit so this rarely varies.
1. Between 6 and 6.30 go , open blinds, make green tea with lemon and bring back to bed for DH and I.
2. Watch BBC news , moan a lot, turn off and read for 10 minutes, snuggle down until 8am get up, pull back duvet to air, open window.
3. Put on Classic FM, empty dishwasher, put out washing which has been done overnight, put on Classic FM, make breakfast.
4. Clear up breakfast, clean kitchen, make sandwich for golf, clean teeth, make bed.
5. DH hoovers downstairs and loads car with golf gear (if going).
6. Turn on PC, balance the household accounts, answer emails, look at Gransnet and Facebook. Order any shopping needed on line.
7. Shower, do hair and make up, dress and go to golf/do rest of housework/go out.
Usually all done by 9.30. this bores me I'm sure I've just bored you.
Woken no later than 8am by DH.
Drag myself out of bed and crawl downstairs.
Nurse coffee that DH has ready for me.
Forgot - take handful of meds at No2.
Crikey Teetime, I'm impressed! How do you get all that done between 8-9.30?
I get up between 7.30-8am. Three mugs of tea and some toast at intervals.
Watch Sky news with one eye while checking Mail on line, fb and then GN.
10.30 ish go back upstairs and make bed, then get ready to face very little!
Wake up between 6 and 7. Take meds. Read. Drop off again. Get up around 9. Breakfast and more meds. Check up on Gransnet, Facebook and email; do crosswords on line.
Alarm goes off at 6 unless DH left earlier like this morning at 5 (when I usually read until my alarm goes off).
Out of bed into the bathroom.
Make up, Hair and clothes.
Downstairs by 6.30.
Make 1st cup of tea then have breakfast usually 2 weetabix and banana or all bran grapes and banana.
6.50 Make 2nd cup of tea.
7 wake the DGC to get dressed.
7.15 to 7.30 Feed them tidy kitchen as I go, have another cup of tea, but it usually goes cold.
7.30 to 8am chase DGC around sorting homework to go into school bags etc.
8.10 out the door to fasten various DGC into car then off to school.
Back at 9 for a cup of coffee and 5 mins to chill before I start the rest of the day.
Get up
Listen to Today programme with earphones on in bed (where said earphones will have been since 5ish) whilst drifting in and out of sleep thereby never hearing a complete article. Come down in dressing gown. Eat brekker. Gransnet. May or maybe not do exercise bike. Wash up brek things. Do grate in winter. Bath and shower. Be transformed into a new woman and despair over the fact I didn't do it all a bloody sight earlier.
Glass I don't think I've ever been as young and capable as you are.
Try not to get up before 5am, but cats know when I am awake and ask for breakfast. I start the bath water running, feed said animals, check weather forecast and emails. Soak in bath for at least an hour with a book, make bed, dress, top up bird feeders, eat porridge on alternate days. A touch of make-up then an hour's walk. Check GN before getting ready for exercise class most days. Housework? Only when the mood takes me!
Clock goes off at 5.45!
DH and I take it in turns to go down, feed the cat, make a pot of tea.
Tea in bed, watching BBC Breakfast, checking phone and chatting about anything and nothing. Take meds.
The one who didn't do the tea making goes to get a second cup.
Half an hour in bed with 2nd cup of tea, the cat and various DGC and often DD3 in the chair, chatting.
7.15, DH gets up, goes into study (checks banking etc), goes downstairs and empties dishwasher and makes breakfast for DGC while I have a bit of peace!!
7.45, I shower in our bedroom while DH showers in downstairs shower room.
We both dress etc (why does that take me twice as long as it does DH?)
Breakfast
DH to work while I do whatever it is that I do.
jingle I bet you could give me a run for my money
Get up (nowhere near as early as most of you
After 37 years of getting up at 6.00 every morning, I allow myself a little lie in now that I'm retired.
DH is usually up first. He puts the coffee on. I toddle downstairs, have my coffee and a fruit smoothie. Upstairs for a wash or shower. Then a mooch about on the computer, reading emails and seeing what Gransnetters are up to. Then breakfast and get on with the day.
I've always woken at 6ish and tried with out success to stay in bed later with no luck I have to get up.
Into kitchen for 1st cup of tea made by my good man
Switch on lap-top and catch up with the world.
Read GN updates, don't always post just catch up with whats going on.

8ish have a couple slices of toast and fresh cuppa.

Bed made and run around the lounge with soft mop and plump up cushions.
All done for the day indoors.
10ish out for any shopping needed and enjoy the rest of the day.

usually with the baby dangling under one arm!!! Then get half way to school and find something crucial to the school day is lying on the door step
Out of bed 7.30, downstairs in dressing gown by 8.00. Make a cup of tea, take into living room and relax in peace, knowing DH won't be out of bed for at least another hour
. Check GN, FB, emails etc, read any BBC news magazine and Aeon magazine stories that appeal (from my FB newsfeed). DH comes down and shatters my peace with Sky News
. I go up and get dressed, do hair, make bed, sort washing. Come down, put washing in machine, make 2nd cup of tea, back in living room to re-check GN, FB as before and do daily online jigsaw.
Alarm goes off at 7.15
Cuppa in bed from tea maker (genius invention)
7.50 shower after DH is out of bathroom

Coffee, coffee and more coffee, interspersed with GN. Housework, what is that? I do wash clothes it would appear, for the local county so that does take up a lot of my time.
Tara's dry food is out 24/7- I check that she will not starve or dehydrate, then I decide what I want to do with the day.
