Bumped into 16yr old DGS in town. He'd gone in on the bus to buy his brother a birthday present and with a big grin on his face he offered to treat me to a cappuccino!!!!
A lift home was obviously on the cards but when he went to pay he produced the Costa Coffee voucher I'd given him at Easter having won it in a 'Guess How Many Sweets in the Jar' competition at my mother's care home.
He'll go far!!

ninathenana - my youngest granddaughter, when she first got paid from her place of work, rang me up and said 'nanny, shall we go for a Costa Coffee - I'm working now so I can pay'. She knows I love Costa Coffee and I thought this was her way of saying thank you for all the times I've taken her and her sister out for lunch, dinner, ice creams, etc etc. We ordered our drinks and I stood aside thinking how grown up she will feel paying for my coffee and her ice cold thing. She said 'you go ahead nanny, as I've said, I'm working now and I can pay for my own' 
She obviously shares my brother's mantra: nobody gets rich by spending it!
