Ramadan in the northern summer must be difficult with such long hours of daylight. A girl who did work experience as a clerk in our college refused even to take an aspirin during daylight hours.

My favourites when I first went to the UK where

My French students loved the one at our local garage 'air con £60'. They would pose behind the sign and pull the worst possible faces, saying they could do it for free. (avoir l'air con = to look like a tw*t).

The most worrying is the one near Cambridge which says 'airport/crematorium) (:

There's a sign as you approach the beach at Druridge Bay in Northumberland which says "Nesting birds take care"

Well I think it is just supposed to be eat moderately after dusk Movealot. The feasting, I understand, comes at the end of Ramadan - known as Eid.

There use to be a sign just off the A2 (not sure if it's still there), which said "sign not in use"!

I always smile at 'Heavy Plant Crossing', I wonder what the plant looks like, I always picture a Gunnera or Little Shop of Horrors monster.

I once came across a 'Do Not Speed, Pheasants' notice on a track. I wonder if they complied!

I once saw a picture taken on the Scottish island of Benbecula, it was at the side of a road, and said "Otter crossing".

Yes, "Baby changing area" too - I always imagine people who have got babies who scream all night and dribble all day might be tempted to trade them in for a placid one that gets through fewer bibs.

I always told our girls that one April Fool Day I would dress up as a huge plant and go a-bounding across the road by one of those signs - but I never did (yet )

Well they say "An English mans home is his castle". In our village there is a house which has been undergoing renovations for several years, on the wall there is a plaque which reads

The inner wall of the castle is dangerous, it is closed to the public during repairs.

It is fun watching passers by craning their necks to read it

At the entrance to Albert Dock in Liverpool, back in the days when it was a proper dock, there was a sign:
