Ingredients225g (8oz) self-raising flour115g (4oz) golden granulated sugar 115g (4oz) chopped butter or margarine 3 or 4 cooking apples 1 egg (beaten) Milk to mix |

Method1. Put the flour, sugar and butter/margarine into a large bowl and mix. Leave the butter in lumps.2. Peel 3 or 4 cooking apples (or equivalent weight of eating apples) and slice thickly into the above mixture. 3. Stir in a beaten egg and then enough milk to make a stiff batter. This may look very lumpy but never mind. Put into a greased cake tin or baking tin. Cook for about one hour at Gas Mark 4 (180 C or 160 circotherm). | |||||||||||||||||||
