This is so well acted.Lesley Manville and Tim McMullan are

I stayed up late to finish it last night. Thoroughly enjoyed it and so great that it’s definitely aimed at the older age group.

The fashions, scenery, memories of the fifties matched with current day style and design. B***er the plot - there was more than enough to fill my fantasies and yes…I did spot Atticus Pund’s nod to the late Kenny Everett. 😮🤣

..And her house! The furnishings....garden view...
Sigh.

Watched the final episode last night. It was entertaining, stylish, no swearing and beautiful settings. Lesley M wore fabulous clothes that suited her age. I’m rather envious of her slim figure.

Loved the series and the book, despite the tweaking of settings and people. Lesley Manville does indeed look very stylish!

Totally brilliant.

Story line: cast: frocks and Corfu (sigh) and a lovely romantic ending.

Following the plot is easier after viewing the first series as Punt appears and disappears.

I'd say it's this shifting quality that makes it very different from an Agatha Christie:

a classy up to date whodunnit, demanding enough to need concentration.

merlotgran

I love the plot and Lesley Manville’s outfits but not keen on the turquoise colour drenched interior design.

I love her handbag (might look for something similar except I never use a handbag!) as well as her outfits

I had to watch the first episode twice to get to grips with the plot and all the characters but after that, I really enjoyed it. I watched the last episode on iPlayer last night and thought the ending was excellent.

I hadn’t even noticed that merlotgran ….but now I will.
I like everything about this series.

I couldn’t get into it but really enjoyed another year.

It’s a good watch, if you like Agatha Christie stuff you will like this.

Kandinsky Thu 08-Oct-26 19:39:41

Keeping track of all the character changes.

kircubbin2000 Thu 08-Oct-26 19:38:40

What's confusing?

Kandinsky Thu 08-Oct-26 19:23:38

All a bit too confusing for me - but like others have said, I watch for the great acting and Leslie Manville’s gorgeous clothes. Great to have an older woman in a prime role too.

We binge-watched the series, having enjoyed The Magpie Murders and The Moonflower Murders. Another great series.

I finished it last night. A really good watch and the acting top class..
I liked Lesley in Another Year with Jim Broadbent.
I read she sings and is a dancer turning down being in Hot Gossip when young. Very talented. Love her style. But preferred her hairstyle during the series to the shorter style in the final scenes. Interesting how a few inches off makes such a difference. Did it make her look younger? Maybe. The lipstick was a bit too dark.

In case anyone doesn't know, the previous two series are Magpie Murders and Moonflower Murders.
I started watching the Moonflower episodes before I realised, then backtracked to the Magpie episodes and started again.
I'm up to episode 3 of Marble Hall now!

Calendargirl Fri 02-Oct-26 16:11:28

I like the way she removes her glasses.

Don’t think I do it the same, her way looks very stylish somehow.

Yes, enjoying this one.

Chocolatelovinggran Fri 02-Oct-26 14:52:39

I want to look like Lesley Manville when I grow up....

Harris27 Fri 02-Oct-26 14:17:15

Watched the whole lot and it was fab! Really good telly.

I binge-watched this yesterday into the early hours of today.

Very clever, especially the introduction of DI Ian Blakeney which kind of hints at more to come … and glad that sister Katie’s quiet boyfriend had a purpose in the end!

I felt this story got a bit too “Poirot” as it reached the denouement but it was well done.

The actors must have had a great time playing their characters or different characters in different time periods.

Lesley Manville/Susan Ryeland’s clothes were lovely. You have to have a certain style to be able to pull that off without looking like a wallpaper sample book or a duvet cover.

NanKate Fri 02-Oct-26 08:35:18

I too don’t know what is going on but am enjoying the good acting, fab clothes and beautiful setting.

Nannan2 Fri 02-Oct-26 08:33:36

Yes its a bit odd, zooming to parts with Atticus and realising oh,its gone to the parts of the novel, then it zooms back to Lesley and you realise its real life again, but i got the hang of it eventually.

HelterSkelter1 Fri 02-Oct-26 04:15:38

I am finding the story line and characters confusing, but still enjoying it. I watched the previous ones with less of a problem keeping up.
Never mind I love her dresses and boots. Shallow? Moi?
