Very interesting but I find the presenter soo very pompous!
He is one one of those experts that keep popping-up, yet he doesn't have the nessasary common touch, as it were! Especially when compared to someone like the utterly fab Dr Ruth Goodman; who is a brilliant, communicator and very engaging to watch too.

Another Ruth Goodman fan here. I have been watching Rich Lives: Poor Lives, where she presents with Rob Rinder. A really interesting series if you haven't seen it.
I love her quirky clothes.

He really brings the past alive. Real social History

It is interesting how the fortunes of the people and houses change over time, frequently starting as upper middle class then through the decades until we often find the house divided multiple times to accommodate poor working class, then as we get to our century, the house is once again gentrified and occupied by the well off.

Brighton has loads of such houses. In fact my DH childhood home was one such, his g grandparents were like those in the tv programme - cobblers, which grandparents inherited, but did not make a go of the business, gradually the whole area became affordable houses for working class folk, but now they have once again been gentrified and are mind-blowingly expensive considering their size etc.

It's a thoroughly enjoyable series and well presented.

Great series, excellent presenter. This house is one I've walked past many times. It's lovely to see inside it too. Very nice homes now.

Professor David Olusoga comes up trumps with another wonderful series of A House Through Time. He brings the very colourful characters who lived here, to life. I hope he's getting busy with Series 4.

I am watching this just now. What an interesting programme it is.

It’s great isn’t it. Relaxing, entertaining and informative. A great insight into people’s lives.

So interesting, about the house, the inhabitants and even more, about the development of Edinburgh itself.

I have watched all the series and find it really interesting and I like the way David Olusoga presents the programmes.

I love his presentation style too. He’s so easy to listen to, no dramatics or silly music.

Dylis. Up to the 1921 census is in line and should give you some info. Have you got any old deeds or ask it building society if by chance the still have them. Unfortunately as I know from painful experience many were destroyed by the building society without consulting the owners

I too was very interested in how someone could have a three storey building put on top of their own house. 😳

I love this programme. My house was built in 1916 and I often wonder about the previous occupants and how they lived.

For any other history fans on here Ruth Goodman and Rob Rinder with their Rich Lives: Poor Lives on 5 is very enjoyable. I watched the Victorian episode this week and next week will be the Georgians.

A really interesting programme. I've enjoyed all the programmes so far and find them fascinating. David Olusoga makes them really good and I'm looking forward to the next latest one.

I guess that BBC researchers do the hard graft but DO presents them well.
